Press-Tribune office discovers a new perfume
Susan Belknap: Editors Corner
Ashley Baer

As if trying to get our Wednesday paper done by the 3 p.m. deadline isn’t excitement enough, this morning the entire Press-Tribune office was in disarray due to a very small animal that was caught in one of the drainpipes outside our office.

But this wasn’t any animal. It was a skunk.

Who knows how long it had been lodged in the pipe, with its tail, the only visible sign of what was inside.

After calls to Wildlife Rescue in Grass Valley and Placer County Animal Control, Press-Tribune employees decided to take matters into their own hands and forced the furry critter from its hideout.

As the skunk fled, (as I’m sure you could have guessed) it decided to let all of us know who was boss by spraying the entire perimeter of our building with its delightful scent.

Needless to say, the Eau de Skunk fragrance has now permeated all areas of our office.

After the skunk had escaped, representatives from animal control did make a visit and provided a few of our employees, who had a real close encounter with our wildlife friend, with their favorite recipe of skunk-be-gone.

Ah, that was an interesting diversion. Now it’s back to work to finish the paper.
