Gavin Oyer won the watermelon eating constest for the second year in a row, downing a large juicy slice faster than all others.

Old Town Auburn kicked off area Forth of July celebrations Friday morning with a great time for children. Activities included a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Auburn Fire Department, a greased pole climb, watermelon eating contest, and various old fashioned games. Richard Yue, dressed as Uncle Sam kept the games and festivities moving as Master of Ceremonies. The celebration lasted until about noon and fun was had by all.
