Granite Bay resident Pam Tobin announced she is running to represent District 4 on the Placer County Board of Supervisors.

Tobin, a local real estate agent, will run against incumbent Kirk Uhler, who has held the post since 2006.

District 4 encompasses Granite Bay and parts of Roseville and Rocklin.

Tobin has been a Granite Bay resident for more than 38 years, has served on the San Juan Water District and now chairs the San Juan Board and the Regional Water Authority.

She is also a former president of the Granite Bay Chamber of Commerce.

Uhler returned to the Board of Supervisors on Dec. 19, 2006 to fill the vacancy created after 4th District Supervisor Ted Gaines was elected to the State Assembly the previous November.

Uhler also represented the 4th District on the Board of Supervisors from 1993-96, and was elected when he was 25 years old, becoming the second youngest supervisor in California history.

Both election campaigns have filed financial statements with Placer County’s elections division indicating the amount of money each has raised.

Uhler’s campaign war chest had $8,150 at the end of 2011. Friends of Pam Tobin listed a cash balance of $1,180.

According to Placer County’s elections division, the four-year term pays total compensation of $30,000 annually.
