Local hospital given high marks
The Commission on Cancer, a multidisciplinary program of the American College of Surgeons, has given Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital a three-year accreditation approval with commendation for its cancer program — the highest distinction possible, officials said. “This is a tremendous milestone for our cancer services at Sutter Auburn and testament to the hard work and dedication shown by our staff toward maintaining a solid, reputable program,” said Barton Bradshaw, M.D., chairman of Sutter Auburn Faith’s Cancer Committee. “This designation is a symbol of the quality of care we provide our patients.” An experienced health care professional from the Commission on Cancer conducted a voluntary survey at the hospital in November. In its evaluation, the commission examined institutional and programmatic resources; cancer data management and cancer registry operations; clinical management; research; community outreach; professional education and staff support; and quality improvement. SAFH’s cancer program did not receive any deficiencies and received commendations in several areas including cancer data management and cancer registry operations; clinical management; and quality improvement, official said. ~ Staff report
