Roseville costly to drive through
Reader Input
A short while ago I heard on the radio that the city of Roseville was planning a policy of increased ticketing that would help supplement funding for Roseville and its police department. Recently a family member was driving in Roseville and was ticketed for crossing a solid yellow line from a business in Roseville. It was relayed to me that there were others being pulled over by the Roseville police for what I can only assume were similar infractions. Now, while I don’t condone disobeying the law, I think we have all come to expect a certain amount of leniency when it comes to minor infractions, let alone a trap-setting in which to enforce them on normally law-abiding citizens heading to work. I understand that the city of Roseville and its police department have the right to enforce these standards under whatever guise they wish, safety or other. However, now that I understand the rules under which they wish to play, I think it’s important to inform everyone so that we can all make our own choices. As for me, I think the odds are better that it will be less expensive to shop somewhere other than Roseville. Tom Rose, Rocklin

Tom, the solution is rather simple. People should stop by their nearest DMV office and pick up a California Driver's Handbook, it is also available on line, read it and comply.
While I'm at it, I would like to remind folks that it is also illegal to pass over a solid double yellow line, this is very common on Auburn Folsom Rd. King Rd, Sierra College Blvd even Highway 193.
So, what is the solution? If you don't want to be late, leave a little early, obey all traffic laws and arrive safely at your destination. The life or money you might be saving may be your own.
One last bit of advice. It is better to arrive a few minutes late than to not arrive at all and if you want to dance, at some point the fiddler will be by to collect.
Have a safe drive.
Tom...... Tom.....Tom, take responsibility for your own actions! Now let me get this straight? You break the law and get cited and your going to take out your misguided anger on the businesses of Roseville. That makes sense to me????? Did you serve as a juror on the Madsen trial?
Loomis; How else can I hit 70 or 80 on A-F Road if I can't cut the bends and come down from the high side to the inside? ;)
Hmmm, Deja_View, I see your problem but please try to slow down, the deer you save may be my wife's pet, too many of them get killed and Uhler will try to send all those blood thirsty kids with M-60s to thin the herds. BTW, 70 or 80 is not that fast, there is a red Lamborghini on A-F at times that would pass you like you're standing still.
Have a great day, I'm just killing time until my tax appointment.
Ah yes, Roseville....The one light with a camera just happens to have a shortened yellow light. Intersection of Douglas & Eureka eastbound left turning lane. If you're the 5th vehicle in line when the turning lane light turns green, good luck beating the yellow.
REVENUE light.
I saw a similar article in Sacramentos' "Major Metropolitan Newspaper".
I would be OK with what they are doing if they weren't going after things that aren't inherently unsafe and ignoring unsafe driver that are not paying attention (phoning/texting/eating/etc.).
As far as "obeying all the traffic laws" is concerned (Loomisresident) the speed limits on many sections of A-F Rd are set too low and some fools insist on driving well below even the posted limit with a chain of frustrated drivers behind them.
Impeding the flow of traffic is against the law.
Traffic laws actuall state that the peed limit is a speed safe for the conditions and that is what you get ticketed for.
The posted limit does not decide true guilt, although you may need a lawyer to get the judge to admit it.
As one of my favorite bumper stickers says: "Take 'your' time. Don't take mine!"
If you think slower is better, then pull over and let the other guy get a ticket.
NoNeoCommies, You obviously do not live on a road or driveway that dumps into A-F Rd. Most of the existing roads and driveways have less than a 1/4 mile visibility on either side, a car approaching at that speed (70- 80 MPH) will be at your side very quickly. That is the reason for the low speed that you claim. Of course you must be one of those very important and very busy people that have no time to think about anyone else but yourself. Slow down, leave a few minutes earlier.
My friend, I don't think slower is better, I have a motorcycle that I guarantee will go much faster than your car, I drive safely and there lies the difference, I am also considerate of others, I am not the sun, you planets don't revolve around me. Yes, I do get irritated when someone is driving 10 or 15 miles under the speed limit but I will NOT pass over the double yellow lines, maybe that is the biggest difference between you and I.
Driving is a privledge, not a right. With all priviledges come rules. Can't always have it your way, Tom. You are driving a 2000 pound vehicle and if someone gets hurt by your self-righteous attitude of breaking the law then who is hurt??? Find something else to whine about or park your vehicle!
If memory serves me correctly 45 is the speed limit on Auburn Folsom isn't it? If so, that is not too slow that road does have a few turns that can sneak up on you. Besides, your life isn't so important that the five minutes you would gain by going faster could kill me or somebody else. Learn to slow down and enjoy the view, or just get your dumb butt out of bed earlier.
noNeo,
So, you're the flow of traffic? You by yourself do not constitute traffic flow. If someone is driving 10 mph below the limit it can be exasperating, no doubt. But if you're doing 60 it won't take long to come up behind someone driving at the limit. Relax. Leave earllier. Arrive in one piece.
Born_Here, A-F Road is a very deadly road. I wish Caltrans would allow crosses or some sort of markers to show the spot where deaths have occurred. It is mostly the newbies with their BMW, Lexus, etc that would love to travel at whatever speed they want, they could care less about the rest of the world, it's all about themselves.
Loomis,
Your preaching to the choir on this one...I agree with you. Most people dont realize that if you raised the speed limit on Auburn Folsom Rd. to 60 MPH, you would gain approx 3 minutes 45 seconds on a trip from Auburn to Folsom provided there were no stop lights. My question is is that 3 minutes 45 seconds worth your life or the life of a family member? So, NoNeoCommies has got some real thinking to do now.
"Get Up 4 minutes earlier, or possibly kill someone?"
