Chorus sings in the new year
A cappella is alive and well in Auburn! Sierra Gold Chorus, the Auburn chapter of Sweet Adelines International, sang four-part harmony a cappella style as they performed to over 600 fans at the annual Christmas shows in Auburn and Grass Valley earlier this month. Sierra Gold Chorus, under the direction of Barb Tincher, enjoyed singing a variety of a cappella style songs, from ABBA, the Beatles and traditional Christmas carols. The shows also included quartets and a double quartet, all singing four-part harmony — a cappella style. Teenagers, housewives, and career women who enjoy singing are invited to attend the chorus’ weekly rehearsal each Monday at 7 p.m. at Burback Hall, DeWitt Center, and 11577 E Ave., Auburn. Any woman of average singing ability, with or without vocal training, will find a part that fits her voice range with the help of the chorus’ musical leaders and director.
