‘Clear and present danger’
Reader Input
Clear — The conservative and productive people have made it very clear they will not tolerate the radical and liberal-left actions of this current administration and its radical socialistic agenda. Present — The present conservatism from the “silent majority” is a direct result of an administration that cried out during its campaign for change, job creation, honesty and transparency and hasn’t delivered on any. Danger — The liberal left-thinking and acting politicians are in danger of losing their livelihood come 2010. Given the referendum of Nov. 3 elections, it should become very clear to all politicians that the productive and common-sense people of America will not tolerate a government that will mandate higher taxes, be given to wild and irresponsible spending, take more control of private enterprise i.e. banks, auto industries, etc., hire czars with socialistic/Marxist agendas, or try to suppress free speech as in the case of talk radio or Fox News Channel, or blatantly try to shove down our throats an ill-conceived government-controlled health plan that is 2,000 pages of Pelosi garbage. We do not want it. Bottom line: government, stay the hell out of our lives and let the productive and common-sense people of America bring prosperity back to America. Steve Cavolt, Auburn

ROFLMAO.
That was really difficult for you to cut and paste that string of hack clichés together, wasn't it ?
Tea Party "Patriots" = Republican Astroturf = American Liberty Alliance = Eric Odom, Bush's old webmaster = American Liberty Tour= Americans for Limited Government= NYC developer Howard Rich= Americans for Quality Affordable Healthcare=Newt Gingrich and David Vitter= David Koch = Americans for Prosperity= Hands Off My Healthcare= Our Country Deserves Better than this Republican Recycling Program of the Bush/Cheney Administration so why don't we Move America Forward and Stop Taking This Guy Seriously.
http://auburnjournal.com/detail/128278.html
Oh, and that constant "shove it down the throats" phrase all you wing dings use ? Just plain icky.
Steve: Turn off Limbaugh and read a newspaper or two. You are regurgitating opinions you heard from talk radio, but you have not taken the time to test those gratuitous opinions against the facts.
And just what did either of you two left-threaded screws actually contribute to this column with your insulting comments? Did you prove him wrong? Hardly. In fact, you both seemed to have reinforced his point. Congratulations.
Mr. Obama has, in fact, hired a bunch of pro-marxist, big government control, freedom squelching goons that are trying to impose controls on our media, finances, health care, commerce, and general liberties that we have never seen unless under martial law. But I suspect you really didn't notice all that OR the exposing of their ideologies....NOR their firings because of light of truth shone on them. Yeah, I know..."George Bush did blah, blah, blah....".
Great Letter Steve Cavolt....
Direct and on point.
Obama has misread the reasons for his victory.
He views his win as a mandate to launch this country into liberal socialism
and is must be rather confused by the growing resistance.
I hope America still has a pulse in 2012 and common sense takes the wheel.
Deja, Mike,
Steve's letter and your comments consist of disjointed slogans masquerading as an argument. In less than 400 combined words you three have opined on tax policy, regulation of private business, Obama's cabinet choices, civil liberties, health care, Marxism, socialism, November's election and U.S.economic policy, yet I could gain more information by reading bumper stickers in a Texas traffic jam.
Don't get me wrong, I think we should all take a critical look at the policies of the Obama administration. Only a fool would claim that all of Obama's ideas are perfect, as would it be foolish to claim that all of Obama's ideas are bad. We need an intelligent opposition to challenge policy through rational argument and evidence based opinions, but the fashion in which you and Mr. Cavolt articulate your opinions shows little regard for the complexity and gravity of the issues facing our nation.
What I'm hearing as alternatives to President Obama's policies from those that disagree with him are a return to the policies of President Bush. If the American people wanted those policies, we would be discussing President McCain.
I am not satisfied with the results to this point. In the overall scheme of things, I believe we are on the right track. I don't like the hugh deficits. I don't like the number of unemployed. I don't like the number of men and women killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. I don't think any president puts the brakes on these things immediately when the car is being driven over a cliff.
Going into Iraq was wrong. We are there so we have to deal with it. The sooner we are out, the better our economy will be. Our strategy in Afghanistan was wrong for 7-1/2 years. It's time to straighten that out and get the job done...what ever that looks like. The answer may mean more troops...but automatically sending in guns a blazing is what got us there without thinking about it on more than a military mind set.
Health care reform is going to happen. Be a part of the solution rather than just biatching and complaining.
Answers aren't always either/or. We've tried either/or for many years/election cycles. It has brought us to where we are today. I think trying new things, looking for new ways, trying different solutions is what the elections of Nov 2008 were about.
To quote the French President, "President Obama is a naive egomaniac" Obama lacks the gravitas to be President. He is the first person to hold the office with zero executive experience. Every problem he has tried to solve in the last year has gotten worse.
Name something that has gotten better.
This is a great example of partisan politics at it's worse. Both sides recite official party lines.
We all need to sit back and figure out by ourselves what has been done or is being done that we like or we don't.
I for one wanted a change from the Bush years, is this the change I was looking for? No, Obama was promising the world and anyone with an IQ higher than 10 knew it was all rhetoric, the tried and true vote getting lies that all politicians tell prior to an election. Then he starts appointing people that didn't like paying taxes, something that they would love us plebes do, then come the Czars, some with not only dubious backgrounds but also some with proven Communist leanings. Then, maybe a tad late, I read both of his books and that was an eye opener. Last but not least his apologetic demeanor during his travels. We may not be perfect but we contribute a great deal to the improvement of other countries around the globe, yet this political activist who has never run any business, made a payroll or has the slightest idea of economics and appoints people like him to posts knows what is best for the country. Just wait for the disaster called Health reform to take place. They have already cutting corners on the mammograms, they want to cut %500 billion from Medicare. The end result is that health care reform will arrive, however if you need more than a band aid for that little cut on your finger you better have money to pay a Dr. to do what ever is necessary. continu
continued- Of course even while vacationing in New York on the taxpayer's dime Mr. Obama and his family will enjoy the best medical coverage possible, this is to be expected he being the President but must he vacation so much? Can he stop or at least curtail those expensive dates with Michelle? Bush was criticized for spending so much time in Crawford, this guy thinks nothing of flying to New York to attend a play, talk about not thinking of the cost to the taxpayers a great deal of whom are presently unemployed or underemployed. Oh yes, I forgot, it was Bush's fault. Whose fault is going to be when the Dollar values is so low we won't be able to afford even Chinese products?
I don't listen to Limbaugh or any of the others, I read and listen to Obama, I get a barrage of emails from the White house, that's how I make up my mind and I don't like what I read or hear from this Administration.
OK elephants and lemmings, you're up.
Loomis,
Are you characterizing Elephants and Lemmings seperatley, or are you referring to Republicans as Lemmings?
I think the Danger here is that this letter writer does not have a Clear and Present understanding of politics. VA any NJ were NOT referendums. Those were local races on local issues (and Virginia was not exactly a Democratic stronghold to begin with). New York's 23rd Congressional race, however, clearly demonstrates that when the national, extremist mouth-frothers like Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann get involved it obviously turns off mainstream America. I for one am glad to see this disgusting way of life die out and welcome a bright and happy future where logic and intelligence are the guiding force in politics.
Spazik007,
Dude...you should be a comedian "I for one am glad to see this disgusting way of life die out and welcome a bright and happy future where logic and intelligence are the guiding force in politics."
That statement alone proves that we can't take anything you say seriously, as you are obviously pulling our legs. Johnny Carson had a charachter that could see the future..."Carnac the Magnificent".
Just what do you see about our future that is so bright?
What do you see about our future that is so happy?
Impending financial ruin... Oh happy days! The devaluation of the U.S. Dollar on the world markets...Oh for joy! Unemployment at record highs... Let's party! More big government programs...Yipee! A president of the U.S. who possibly lied about his citizenship to get elected...Woo hoo! A president who's indecisive nature is bringing more of our soldiers home in body bags...Put on a happy face!
I have to hand it to to you though, you are an optimist! If I will give you the lemons, will you keep making the lemonade?
Jon Green - I have searched and cannot find a direct quote from French President Sarkozy that calls President Obama a "naive egomaniac"...what is your source?
Bastiat - try "Incredibly Naive and Grossly Egotistical"
Associated Press. It was made after the UN meeting where Obama failed to join the French, Germans, and the UK in supporting sanctions on Iran. Lant, I believe you have the correct quote.
I, too, was hopeful that Obama would do a few things, for example, slap the banks around. What a joke; he’s in bed with them. He has done absolutely nothing well, in my opinion. He has shown us that he is way over his head. Now, he says that if we don’t get control of this spending, we may end up in a “double dipping” recession. Can you believe it? We also see the new housing crisis looming with the FIXED rate loans going into foreclosure. Obama’s own man said that if we see double digit inflation, the stimulus will have failed. When will the people wake up? Spaz, You really are naïve; I can tell you’re young, and I respect your propensity for action. Try seeing things from both sides. Loomis, I concur with your posts, 100%.
Spazik007: I believe you are misinterpreting the NY23rd race. What happens if you add the votes for the "official" republican candidate and Hoffman? Do they beat the Dem? They Must doncha think? In fact Hoffman was the more "conservative" of the two on the right and he is still in the running (the count is not final and the result not certified)with only a few thousand votes difference. He could still win if he brings in Al Frankin's team. Also the New Jersey race cannot be viewed as anything other that a flat repudiation of Obama. He campaigned for Corzine and Obama won NJ by double digits.
AP is not a source...please point me to the direct quote...everything I read says that somebody said that somebody said that Sarkozy believes that Obama's take on working with Iran on Nuclear weapons is naive and egotistical. That is a far cry from a direct quote. Why can't you just point me to the quote? It shouldn't be that hard if Sarkozy actually said whay you say he said.
It tickles me to see conservatives quote a Frenchman. Would you like some rémoulade with your pomme frites?
Well, ONE little thing about all those lazy nonproductive liberals
Its the blue states that tend to support the red states. But now that the stupid empire has Sarah Palin back as their role model proving once again that facts don't matter we really don't have to bother ourselves with reality. Curiously enough it seems that the right has moved into the feeling realm once occupied by the do gooders except the right uses it to be selfish.
Musings, musings
If Sarkozy did not say it, where are all the denials? He iscertainly aware of the claims.
I never heard President Bush deny that he was directly involved in the conspiracy to fly airplanes into the World Trade Center...does that prove that he must have participated?
Then he dun it!
Oh and Bastiat,
I think you just got trolled by Lant. Trolling, it's a art form.
This is what they turn to, Lant, when they have been proven wrong. Hey, Lant, I was pheasant hunting with one of your buddies from your church, JM. I told him to say hi to you but that you wouldn’t know who he was talking about. FYI
lant and jon - the quote should be attributed to conservative columnist Jack Kelly as he is the one who actually said it. there is no proof that Sarkozy ever said what Jack Kelly claims. also, I find it interesting that Jack Kelly hit all of the right wing tv shows with this "revelation" yet neglected to include it in his newspaper column or any other print media. I wonder why that is?
BTW, the words from “the Frenchman” were on Youtube; however, they have removed the video. Gee, I wonder who was behind that. LOL
p50 - you have seen video of Mr. Sarkozy making these remarks? I don't think so. What you saw was conservative columnist Jack Kelly making these remarks and attributing them to Mr. Sarkozy. Big difference. There is absolutely no proof whatsoever that Mr. Sarkozy ever called President Obama "incredibly naive and grossly egotistical" as jon, lant, and now you seem to claim. Mis-attribution of a quote is lazy at best and a lie if done with malice of forthought. If your opinions are based on laziness or lies how can they possibly prove anyone wrong about anything?
So which is it...are you just lazy or a liar?
Who cares what the French said or didn't say.....
Obama is incredibly naive and grossly egotistical.
On 11/19/09 at 05:28 AM, Rolandmc wrote:
"What I'm hearing as alternatives to President Obama's policies from those that disagree with him are a return to the policies of President Bush."
And then at the bottom of that very same post Rolandmc wrote:
"Answers aren't always either/or. We've tried either/or for many years/election cycles. It has brought us to where we are today."
So your first sentence either/or is one of those exemptions you later refer to.....
Then the cherry of the post:
" I think trying new things, looking for new ways, trying different solutions is what the elections of Nov 2008 were about."
What is so new about Socialism?
The only thing "different" about these "solutions" is that the President pushing them has no experience in doing so.
Mike - to answer your question...it seems that JonGreen, lantbarney, patrick50, joszef_pelikan, and I care what Sarkozy said or didn't say.
Who cares what you have to say?
patrick - I did get the message from Jeff and I did know who he was talking about. funny.
bastiat - Bush would not have to deny such a rumor as it is obviously bogus. On the other hand, this, if indeed it was said, is not the first time Sarkozy has stated something negative about O.
J_P thanks for your help yesterday. While trolling may be "an art", it is never "a art" despite any reference elsewhere. My understanding of trolling is that it is the act of purposefully antagonizing other people on the internet, generally on message boards. While I cannot say that I have never trolled, and I would never claim that you have never trolled, I would not call my entries in this post trolling. Initially, I provided information. I have in no way disparaged Bastiat. Just because my opinion may irritate you, it does not make it trolling.
lant - let me get this straight...you honestly believe that if a person does not deny an allegation that is within the realm of possibility then the allegation must be true? really? come on, even you don't believe that...do you?
Lant,
I was referring to your 11:52 post "If Sarkozy did not say it, where are all the denials? He is certainly aware of the claims. ". I assumed you were trolling because it is obviously flawed logic. I know that Sarkozi has criticized Obama in the past, and it would not suprise me if he called Obama Naive and egotistical. However, your argument assumes that Sarkozi would deny a quote which is attributed to him. Is every defendant who refuses to take the witness stand guilty of that which they are accused?
I enjoy a good lighthearted troll every now and then, which is why trolling is "a art" form. :)
Here's the "Sarkozy quote" in context. Former RNC Deputy Press Secretary Jack Kelly said it on Fox.
During a guest appearance on Fox News, Mr. Kelly said that two of his "friends" alleged that President Sarkozy said that he thinks that President Obama is "incredibly naive and grossly egotistical; so egotistical that no one can dent his naïveté."
So there you have it: a Republican propagandist appearing on Fox News alleged that he heard from his anonymous friends that they said that President Sarkozy said that he thought that our Democratic president is egotistical.
Any problem with politically-biased, third-hand hearsay?
Patrick50 - Have you considered that the media is a vast conspiracy to make you happy?
Bastiat,
My whole point.....who cares.
Obama wears the opinion nicely, whether I, Frenchy, or a toad said it.
Anyway, get back to your google pissing contest.....
I think Skeptic is a vast, idiodic conspiracy to make me laugh.
Joszf, you are making yourself into a good lawyer. You argued with me on the same point only in reverse. Where's your cut and paste of a "conservetive" newspaper this time?
Troll or phish, how do you answer or should I go cut and paste your posts on the subject?
I'm so happy for you that Stalin is your hero.
fourgen,
Feel free to cut and paste my previous posts. I argued with you earlier that Sarkozi's alleged criticism of Obama would not be a first. We never actually established whether or not Sarkozi called Obama naive and arrogant. In this thread my objection is that Lant's conclusion is based on flawed logic, nothing more.
Stalin is my hero? huh?
"He was born Iosif Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili, in Gori, which is now in the Republic of Georgia, in 1879, but in 1910 adopted the pseudonym Josef Stalin, Staling meaning "a man of steel." Bio
I thought that you may have misspelled, like me leaving the "e" out. Just what one little "z" can do.
It has appeared that both joe's have an inclination to lean in the same direction.
"Between 1922 and 1953 he was the secretary general of Communist party." Bio
It's great to see the gutless wonders crash before our very eyes.
You embrace a quote from a Frenchie, that is a figment of your imagination, then you back peddle saying who cares if it really happened. You you wonder why no one takes you seriously.
Your reply? gruber. fourgen, freedwhateveryouare, P50, chasingyourtail? NOTHING!
Hey LANT. Time to man up.
Let's see if one of you actually has some real ones................................
You know it's really tough looking in the mirror. Coming to grips with reality.
Stalin? That's the best you got? PUHleeze.
I'm going to the kitchen to peel some potatoes and make me some freedom fries. Boycott France.
Fourgen,
My blog name comes from an anti-communist Hungarian film called "A Tanu".
Sarkozi is also a Hungarian name. Does that mean he is a communist too?
Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose....
To think I thought Obama was a very good used car salesman when he was running for Prez. He is a very poor salesman when it comes to execution. I wonder how he would fare on 'Are you smarter than a 5th grader'.... Ideally, he will spend the rest of his time golfing, and take the rest of the 'leadership' with him. He is selling us all out, people.
Lomis said it all, I just had to pile on...
You're just a big fat socialist.
JP..I am actually a Hungarian... which I was once told were the original European Indians and therefor my natural athletic abilities... and others claim our people are direct decedents of the Sumerians and therefor my ancient wisdom.........
Obewan,
Ancient wisdom and athletic ability? I lived in Hungary for nearly a decade and never heard anything like that.
JP...you would be amazed to find out... how many things you use every day that were originally invented by Hungarians...and their wisdom.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Hungarian_inventors
Obewan,
Yes, Hungarians are smart people. One of the SETI scientists had a theory that Hungarians were actually aliens masquerading as humans.
Wow! The angry ones are out in full force here. No, I never saw any video. I only posted what Youtube wrote. I could care less if “the Frenchman” said this or not. I was just providing what I learned from Youtube. You guys are really funny. It’s sad how Bastiat, Chrishamm, Skeptic and JP turn to such angry, insulting posts. I have decided not to deal with those that are only here to antagonize and bicker with others. That is why I don’t deal with so many of you; you are on my “ignore list.” Enjoy the day.
I certainly understand why all of you Obama apologists don’t address my 11/19 post. :)
Patrick,
I am not angry at all. I like to tease Lant because he is a lighthearted guy who can dish it out just as well as he can take it.
chris - you are getting too obnoxious to warrant any reply but this. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......
I love it...whenever p50 says I am on his ignore list I can count on him to post several times telling me so.
p50 - heads up...when you say I am on your ignore list that means you should not respond to what I post. I know you are a bit on the slow side...just wanted to point this.
p50 - I am not an Obama apologist but I will bite...which of your three 11/19 posts on this thread would you like me to address...the one where you talk about pheasant hunting? the one where you suggest that some conspiracy is occurring that pulls criticism of Obama off of utube? or the one where you say that Obama has not handled his responsibilities as you would have liked?
On second thought...why would I respond to any of those posts...there is nothing in them worth discussing...certainly nothing worth addressing...they speak for themselves. There is no there there.
JP...Hungarian Indians love sports......and then of course they love inventing things.....well lets see...things like say the computer and then like the art of writing which their forefathers the Sumerians did originally....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Hungarian_athletes
Hungarian Indians? What exactly is a Hungarian Indian? I am aware that many Hungarian Jews have had major contributions to literature and the sciences (Computer, H-Bomb, Washing hands before surgery etc.).
By Hungarian Indian, do you mean the Magyar ethnicity? The only Hungarians I know of who have roots in India are the Romai people (gypsies).
Bastiat: What does Oakland have to do with anything?
yes..
http://www.imninalu.net/Huns.htm
Beszelsz Magyarul?
Progressivewithoutvalues;
You said, "Its the blue states that tend to support the red states." Beg pardon? Are you honestly implying that the largely welfare-dependent Blue states monitarily "support" Red states? Do you really believe that or are you just messing with folks for fun? You might want to check your wiring because you definitely have a short-circuit there. Oh. I guess that qualifies me as "unfeeling." Gee. I'm all tore up!
And Canyonmousie;
Bank bailouts; corporate CEO end executive bonuses to failing companies; "Czars" appointed without Congressional vetting, not responsible to Congress or the people; massive spending bills which all include huge injections of pork both to working voters and their wallets; New York trials for terrorists; appointment of Attorney General who has the unmitigated gall to call American "a nation of cowards when it comes to race"; promises the most "transparent" Administration in history; (then goes off calling anyone who disagrees with them "racist"); a tax-program overseen by a Sec Treas who's a tax-cheat; promises to get out of Iraq and Afghanistan; dithers when required to make a decision about Afghanistan; bowing to foreign heads of state; (something no President has ever done!); Worldwide apology tour; and just too many other issues to list. None of them "cut and pasted." So try those on for size.
Lord I do hope this "President" is one-term. That peanut-farming punk Jimmy Carter was a joy ride next to this guy.
