Reader slams ‘carpetbagger’
Reader Input
I think it’s an amusing metaphor that Charlie Brown is moving on to bigger and better things in the Homeland Security Council while Auburn is stuck with a know-nothing carpetbagger they chose from the same party as fallen corrupt mastermind John Doolittle. I guess Auburn is getting what it deserves. Patrick Ward, Auburn

No, we deserved better.
You're worried about your congressman when you have Obama, Reid, Pelosi and the "C" team running our economy, defense, and private industries into the ground? Just what do you think Charlie Brown would have done to improve ANYTHING since last year? You want another wag to go along with Pelosi's insanity? Or, did you want another mouse to help Barney Frank conmplete his destruction of our housing and banking system?
C'mon....be specific.
First off, Tom isn't MY congressmen. I abandoned the sinking ship that is Auburn a couple years ago. Second off, it's funny to hear Republicans talk about "Freedom" and then turn around and stomp out our civil liberties. After over twenty years as a loyal Republican, Charlie Brown saw the direction the party was heading and realized that there needs to be a change or his ideals would be lost forever. Now, I'm against a lot of Pelosi's agenda: Unions, Illegal Immigration, and ending Afganistan. HOWEVER, when you step back and look at the situation for America, objectivly and on a long term basis, it becomes obvious that the current state of Republicans will not last. New York's 23rd Congressional race should have made that obvious. I can feel it when I come back to Auburn. Things feel very sad there now. You need to pull your head out of the sand, wake up, and read the writing on the wall.
Patrick, I'm no fan of either Doolittle or McClintock but number one, Doolittle hasn't even been charged with any wrongdoing while a Democrat, William Jefferson of Louisiana just got the longest sentence ever given to a member of Congress, 13 year in the Graybar Hotel for bribery. How about our past Lt. Governor who just got elected to represent the 10th District which does not include San Andreas where he resides, oh wait, that doesn't count, he's a Democrat. I guess we only see what we want to see, huh.
Dejaview, I think one of the reasons for Brown to have been named to the post was to spare him the embarrassment of losing another election, he was starting to be known as the perennial candidate. If he had won he would have been little more than a bobble head for Pelosi and company. I fully respect his service to our country but he has not shown much since his retirement and I personally spoke with him on three occasions during his campaigns. All he did was mouth the official party line. I really tried to like him since I never have liked the two Republicans but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't vote for him.
I just love the comments from the members of the Du Bois Club. Is Larry related to W. E.?
It is funny how Liberal left wingers like Patrick, can not forget Doolittle, even though he has never been charged with a crime. But, then again one must remember in the liberal cause it is is accusation that is most important not the guilt or innocence. From page one of their play book, repeat the accusation over and over and soon enough people will beileve it. And apparently Patrick has fallen for the false party garbage of the demo party when it comes to Doolittle.
And it is particulary funny how so very fast they forget about their own fallen corrupt party members. And never mention them again. Congressman Jefferson, Oh, yea he was one way back in 1776 was he not? Bribery? What Bribery?
Yeah, I remember you're not a fan of the constitution either, which Tom McClintock strictly adheres to. It's called going to Washington where all the power resides and excercising restraint where little exists. Tom McClintock is one of the only politicians who actually follows the constitution. He is indeed a rarity and we are damned lucky to have him as a representative.
Hey Doofis, how many hours a day do you spend reading and posting at this site? Must be a real turn-on for your wife. Oh sorry, or partner.
Republicans only "respect" the constitution when it's convenient for them. Did yo forget those Anti Gay Marraige and Anti Flag Burning Amendments that REPUBLICANS tried to defile our beautiful Constitution with. Did you also forget about the Patriot Act, or Guantanamo Bay? The Constitution says All Men Are Created Equal, and giving the terrorist fair justice only makes our Constitution and our Country STRONGER. I'm not one to dwell on the many faults of the Bush Administration, but do you remember when Cheny said "well, I'm not subject to executive oversight because I'm part of the legislative branch, yet perplexingly I will still claim the right to abuse my powers of executive authority."...If Republicans take over we will live in George Orwell's 1981. This is never going to happen yo the beautiful country I love and someday you will pull your heads out of the sand and wake up. LOOK AT THE LAST NY 23 CONGRESSIONAL RACE AND WAKE UP. The Palin way of life is dead.
Spazik007, maybe Republicans are not so politically correct as Democrats. Perhaps if the Dems were more like the Repubs the terrorist attack at Ft. Hood wouldn't have happened. But who cares, it was just 13 soldiers killed in that incident, look at how many more are dying while your leader Obama waffles with a decision on Afghanistan. The decision is not about doing what is right for the effort is how to appease all the factions that Obama needs to win a second term in office, he can't afford to loose Code Pink or the others, but then again, it's just soldiers, after all, like he's said before, it's a volunteer force, they knew what they were getting into.
The NY 23rd was a sham from the beginning by the idiots in the Repub Central Committee picking a total nutcase.
Oh did you happen to move into the 10th. Dist. They now have a carpetbagger for a Representative and he happens to be a Democrat.
Have a great day.
Oooo...neato. We have a whole new batch of 'useful idiots'.
Nice try Spaz, Try to pigeonhole all republicans as likeminded. There are many schools of thought on many issues within the party.
What most mental midgets like yourself do is, try to conflate the issue with sweeping generalizations that are irrelevant to the subject at hand; which is Tom McClintock and the constitution. Not republican X, Y, or Z.
If there is any single thing that can be truly said to be "Orwellian" it is the phenomena of "Politcal correctness", an imposition on freedom largely sponsored and enforced by liberal democrats.
Oooo...neato. TexMex with his cute little quips and schizophrenic ideology.....very interesting
Where oh where to begin...first off, I haven't been on this site for years, I just wanted to see what was going on in my hometown and was shocked by the laughable and out dated arguments being made to support a Bush Era mentality. You must have me confused with someone else. Second, Tom McClintock wasn't the "subject of the debate" (excellent attempt at abusing the "Straw Man" logical fallacy by the way, kudos.) but his character is easily debatable on my part if you so wish. CA 4 is represented by a Bush Era Man who ran on Bush Era policies, and won. You can sit there breathing out your mouth going making fun of gay Marraige but the fact of the matter is you're on the wrong side of history. The old people against gay Marraige are dying, and the younger and more intelligent generation which overwhelmingly supports gay marraige is GROWING. If Tom were a real constitutionalist he would vote down Medicare. Oh wait he needs those senior votes. Guess the constitution actually is a problem for Tom, except that he fan trot it out in false arguments to gain support from people who don't really know much about the constitution
FTinkerton: I would be interested in hearing the basis of your statement that McClintock "strictly adheres" to the Constitution. I went to his website, and couldn't get much substance from it, but maybe you can enlighten me.
loomisresident: The main difference between Jefferson & Doolittle is that Doolittle was much sharper about his criminal activity, but then, a boneheaded move like storing $90,000 in one's freezer doesn't elevate the bar very high to begin with.
As for the perenial candidate charge against Brown; there's quite a big difference between a Democrat in the most conservative area in Cal. losing in conscutive elections by less than a hair vs. getting trounced everytime...
It doesn’t take a genius to determine that Spaz is very young. He/she probably graduated from high school in ’07. His/Her posts are representative of a very naive young person spewing the misconceptions of a liberal college professor. Please explain how Auburn is a “sinking ship.” The people here seem quit happy, if you ask me. Could it be, Spaz, that it is you that is unhappy? You certainly come across as a very unhappy and angry person. We are a predominately conservative county. That’s a fact. Do you not see the hypocrisy of the Left, accusing Doolittle of crimes when he has never been convicted of anything? Then, you speak of Republicans taking away our civil liberties? Try looking at both sides of a story, spaz, and lighten up. Be happy. :)
Auburn is a sinking ship because they pass ordinances banning tattoo shops while trying to preserve unvisited antique shops. It's pretty obvious after having been away a couple years.
loomis, you're wrong . Charlie never mouthed the official party line. He is as far from Pelosi and Reid as anyone can get. He is a champion of Veterans rights and is quite involved to this day. He believes in things like better armor for soldiers and their vehicles and smarter weapons. I have even heard him say. "Those damn liberals think they are going to get the money that is used for our military." Calling him a bobble head for Pelosi is disingenuous. If you want to meet the man in person so he can settle your fears call him and make an appointment.
Chase, while I tend to agree with you on this you should look up Jerome Corsi. He invented the swift boat attacks and openly admits that he lies and believes the end justifies the means.
I rest my case.
Spaz, you're barking up the wrong tree with me bud. Number one I favor gay marriage, it's none of my business to begin with. You try to lump all conservatives into your narrow vision, it won't work. Unlike you Dems that toe the party line in a mindless state us conservatives have our own opinion. You can say that we are way more broad minded than you mental midgets.
So what brought you back to this site and what was your former moniker, no one seems to remember this one. Can you at least be honest with that answer, does your party boss allow you to answer it? Do you have any other issues than gay marriage?
Welcome back even if you're just a troll.
The local Republican Party can be neatly summed up in a few phrases:
• Keep the wars going.
• But don't expect ME to pay for it.
• Give me a tax cut to have a larger family than yours.
• Don't expect us to put in real estate zoning for people who can't afford at least a quarter million dollar house, let alone apartments. Let the working class drive in from other cities.
• Privatize everything or charge a user fee. Sell off what you can to developers.
• Don't explain what or how legislation works. It confuses the old people we're scaring with images of savages or perverts.
• It's okay to hate on people because of race, religion, gender, as long as you deny doing it.
• Don't tell the old folk Medicare is a socialized government paid for insurance program.
• There's no such thing as Russo Marsh/MAF doing local propaganda, and the Tea Party Patriots aren't being run by the Republican Party.
____
that about sums it up.
Hey Republicans! Ask your local GOP why they have been busted for laundering money? Slimeballs!
It's laughable that I as an independent civil libertarian am being lumped into "towing the party line with my party boss Pelosi". You people are only proving my point more about how out of touch your brand of Republican is. I say again: WAKE UP!
Hefenger, Do you mean William Jefferson, the Democrat? LOL
First off Spaz, McClintock has been in the Ca. Legislature for the past 20 years and he voted against every medi-cal/medi-care expansion that came down the pike. I don't know what orifice you're pulling this crap out of, but it's anything but factual. You have to read something into the constitution that just isn't there to find anything supporting gayr-marriage, or polygamy, or man-dog marriage.
You sound like you don't even understand the constitution, and you certainly don't understand original intent. Believe me, socialism is totally antithetical to the U.S. Constitution, and I bet you don't even understand that. Because all those youthful geniuses that voted for Obama sure as hell don't get it.
Hey, Spaz;
Please name every freedom, liberty, or right you lost and had cause you a detriment during the Bush years. You keep spouting that dem talking point crap without giving any evidence. Do you still fantasize that AlBore won the 2000 election? Do you go to bed at night and pray for 30 more AL FRANKENs to fill senate clown seats? Do you dream of snuggling up next to Nacy Piglosi and trying to close those surgically propped eyelids?
No, wait. Evidently, you can't get you mind off the gay marriage debacle. Somehow you think we should toss thousands of years of history and law to open up state recognized legal marriage to anyone or anything who can fill out a form. Of course homosexuals can love each other as much as heterosexuals...but so can other combinations of men, women, children, etc., etc. That doesn't mean we change the entire definition of the legal relationship every time someone or something wants to jump in the pool. Sadly, Libertarian is often just a pseudonym for defiant anarchist.
steelybob, we don't know how he would have fared if he had run for City Council, BOS, etc. he wanted to start at the top without any experience or political background whatsoever. I really tried to like the guy and spoke with him three different times, Neither candidate got my vote in the two elections he participated on. I have a thing about people that don't think on their own two feet regardless of political affiliation.
In my mind it never was Republican vs Democrats and neither candidate fit my mold.
Canyon Rat, the poster child for mindless political drivel.
Chuxxr, I spoke personally with Charlie, he toes the line, maybe you just threw softballs at him, I pitched hard balls just like I did with Doolittle and McClintock which by the way I've known since 1984. I just don't like Kool Aid, never acquired a taste for it.
Spaz, are you fretting because you couldn't open a tattoo and piercing shop? Or was it a head shop and wedding chapel that you were trying to open? Keep writing, you're a hoot.
You've obviously never acquired a taste for that 'ol constitutional "Kool Aid" either. Phony Liibertarian!!
steelybob, you're not insinuating that a black person is not smart enough to commit white collar crime, are you? Make sure that your dislike of Doolittle doesn't make you look racist. Well, after all, the liberals and Democrats have been telling minorities for decades that they can't make it on their own, that they need Government assistance and that attitude has helped expedite the demise of the family nucleus in minority homes.
Yesterday Senator Byrd became the longest serving Senator. Do you know what percentage of those years were under the sheets of the KKK and what percentage was as a liberal? 70- 30 or is he still a closet KKK member? I bet he thinks Jefferson was stupid also.
As far as Charlie is concerned well, how many Republicans lose in Democratic enclaves? He just didn't have anything to offer the swing voters, those that wanted true representation and not just another bobble head. I didn't vote for either candidate on the two elections he was a candidate, neither met my standards. And sorry, close only counts on horseshoes and hand grenades, just look at the very close vote, 220 to 215, that was hailed by the Democrats as a mandate on health care.
I guess DoofisResident was holding out for the "single-issue-gay-marriage" crusading candidate........doofisresident=phony libertarian
Deja - from your post of 11/19 01:28: "Please name every freedom, liberty, or right you lost and had cause you a detriment during the Bush years."
It would be difficult to name them all but here is a start:
NSA implementation of "Operation Groundbreaker" to monitor domestic phone calls (this takes place prior to 9/11)
NSA implementation of domestic phone call database that includes the call-detail records of all customers of ATT, Verizon, BellSouth (of the largest carriers only Qwest refuses to provide customer call-detail records sought by the NSA)
USA Patriot Act:
allows FBI to monitor and record conversations between attorneys and clients
allows FBI to order librarians to divluge reading habits of patrons
allows surveillance of US Citizen's email and internet activities without a warrant or even a notice
expanded use of National Security Letters...essentially self-signed search warrants to examine financial records and electronic communications of US Citizens without judicial oversight...if you are the recipient of one of these NSL's it is against the law to divulge this fact.
Intelligence Authorization Act of 2004 expands use of NSL's..."financial institutions" are now defined as including: delis, bodegas, casinos, doctors offices, attorneys offices, jewelry dealers, car dealers, boat dealers, hotels and the US Postal Service.
(cont.)
FBI and DOD contract with ChoicePoint to collect and store data on US citizens...why a contractor?...it is against the law for them to do it themselves.
DHS Directorate of Information and Analysis authorized to compile US citizens credit, travel, phone, bank data
Military Commissions Act authorizes the President to declare US citizens "enemy combatants" and incarcerate them without a charge or due process
John Warner Defense Authorization Act allows the President to station US armed forces anywhere in the US and authorizes those forces to detain "potential terrorists", "illegal aliens", and "disorderly" citizens.
This is some of the rights you gave up during the Bush administration...I know, I know...the typical response is that taking away these rights was justified because we were at war...funny thing about rights...once you give them up you rarely get them back.
loomis, Charlie was swift boated. Remember the Republican creed; if they tell a lie the rumors fester on their own well after the rumor was retracted. Charlie would have won if it were not for the spin machine.
Your constant referral to "bobble head" once again proves to me that you have never met the man.
Chuxxr, call me an idiot, call me a conservative, call me whatever you want but never call me a liar. I met the man three times, twice at the Conflunce Festival and once at an appearance in Loomis. Now please get out on my back pocket, you are infringing on my civil liberties by spying my every move.
Watch for that cliff, it's closer than you think.
Spazik AKA The Guy With the Black Boots (Patrick Ward) . Is this really you? Graduated PUHS 2002? www.myspace.com/spazik008
You don't appear to be a conservetive type to begin with, you might want to become friends with Canyon Rant..
Deja? Buehler?
