Placer to host playoff game
Hillmen face Foothill in Div. IV opener
After 27 years, playoff football is returning to LeFebvre Stadium. Placer High will host Foothill in a first-round Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV playoff game Friday at 7 p.m. The section announced the playoff pairings Saturday evening and rewarded the Hillmen’s 9-1 regular season with a No. 3 seed in the Division IV-A bracket. Placer beat Whitney 28-19 in its regular season finale Friday in Rocklin. The Hillmen claimed second place in the Pioneer Valley League to undefeated Lincoln, which earned the top seed in Division IV-A. Both Colfax and Del Oro will also be a part of the new expanded playoff format, which is based on enrollment rather than league alignment. Del Oro earned a home playoff game for its 8-2 regular season. The Golden Eagles will host Christian Brothers Friday. Del Oro is seeded eighth in the Division II bracket – widely regarded as one of the toughest playoffs in the state. A first-round win would likely send the Eagles to St. Mary’s to meet No. 1 St. Mary’s. Colfax will hit the road as it returns to the playoffs after missing the postseason last year for the first time under coach Tony Martello. The eighth-seeded Falcons will face high-powered Modesto Christian in the Division IV-B bracket. For more on the playoffs and Friday night’s football action, see Sports, C1.

Congratulations Hillmen on hosting a playoff game, cant wait, Fri. nite, Football, GHB, Cheer and the Hillman Dancers!! You have worked all year for this, so lets go get em... Also, nice to see the Falcons made it too. it also looks like we could very well get another shot at Lincoln. Its gonna be a fun ride.

Good news bad news for my Falcons....out of the frrying pan (Lincoln 10-0) and into the Modesto Christian fire (10-0)! Well, it just gives us the potential for another crack at Placer, Lincoln and/or Whitney.

The Hillman have the ability to loose at home. It has been done this year already. Let's hope you make it through. You gave Lincoln the toughest competion all year. I was at that game. It was puinishing and the Zebs come out of the fight on top. The Hillman are the quickest team to get to the line I have seen all year. It would be great to play you again on our turf.
