Reader vows to shop Roseville
Reader Input

Lynn Howe has some good points about pitbulls (Reader Input, Nov. 8).

Her statement, “Reckless owners of any dogs pose a threat to the community’s safety,” is true. These owners are adults who at this stage of the game will not change. It’s like the habitual drunk driver. You have to take away their opportunity to drive.

We need to take away the pitbulls. Behavior modification in adults does not work well. Most of us will speed when a cop is not around. We can’t have a cop around every corner looking for loose pitbulls.

Lynn used the word profiling. People cringe at the word. Why? Profiling pitbulls brings the problem to the surface, does not hide it.

Folks, the City of Auburn will let time take care of this without enacting an ordinance. The Auburn Journal will see less written about this and the dust will settle. I know the standard operating procedure.

My family and I along with some others now shop in Roseville. The Fountains, Galleria and all the venues surrounding are safe.

Roseville and its businesses have cultivated a true family atmosphere there. You will not have dogs off-leash or people harassing you and your family. Until Auburn shows real progress, that’s where our family will spend our time and money.

By "true family atmosphere" do you mean a strip mall filled with Paris Hilton wannabees who think a dog's primary function is to accessorize a handbag?

Roseville.... "safe?"

You have got to be out of your mind. After the fall of 2008, no how do I consider Roseville "safe." Too many bored rich spoiled brats running around at night trashing vehicles.

Too many texting twerpie speeding teenagers not paying attention to their driving, too many oblivious people driving too fast in their SUV's. Galleria, world's worst designed retail area. The entire Roseville retail shopping area is soul less.

Albert, watch the news today? Police arrest a roadrager after he fires three shots at a person who cut him off. This all happened at the galleria. You do put bullet proof vests on your family when you go? Have you ever seen a dog roaming free and not called animal control? If your answer is yes, you are part of the problem. Those dogs had gotten out before and I bet no one called. We need to enforce our current laws, and it takes more than the police and the animal control to do this. It takes a community not willing to allow it to happen. In our current hightened awareness about the issue I am sure if you called in that dog running loose in your neighborhood it would be dealt with. It is everyones job to police, not just the ones with the badge!

J-P, C-R and raiderdave, couldn't have said it better myself. Roseville, Rocklin and Lincoln= Yuppie heaven, Albert I hope you enjoy your "down the hill" shopping experience, you really planned to shop there anyway, didn't you?.

I will take my chances with the Pit Bulls in that horrible little town of Auburn.

Good luck finding a safe place---anywhere!

What about driving on the freeway down to Roseville-you

take a chance wherever you go.

Did I miss something? I know they decided not to ban pitbulls (I agree with that), but did they decide not to put the four pitbulls down? Why the letter? You can’t possibly think it’s safer in Roseville.

Oh my gosh---There are bears and deer all over downtown Auburn.

We must run scared and go to Roseville and shop.

Albert,

If you insist on shopping in Roseville, you should check out H&M at the galleria. They have nice looking clothes and even nicer looking saleswomen. :)

I vow to shop Roseville only because they have things I want to buy. If I want to buy antiques or over priced specialty items then I shop in the city of Auburn.

It's Rosevile, not Roseville. I only go there to remind myself why I live near Auburn.

It's not so much about safety as need when I drive down the hill. If our community had one store to buy affordable and attractive clothing I would shop in Auburn. Well, we actually have two discount stores, one has decent price and quality, but no style. The other has decent prices, but terrible quality. Where are we supposed to shop? I miss Gottschalks :(

hey stumpbranchm, I am guessing you are an overpriced antique. My time and gas is worth the few dollars i might save. I like my money to stay here.

To be safe from pit bulls 24/7 you should move to Roseville. Unless, of course, they only attack when people are shopping.
