The fall of the Berlin Wall 20 year anniversary.
By Sawked

The fall of the Berlin Wall is one the most monumental displays of freedom the world has ever seen. Last night I was lucky enough to be one of the 100,000 people lining the streets of Berlin watching an absolutely incredible celebration of this freedom. The German people have had quite a turbulent history, but for the moment it is capped by the events that took place on November 9th, 1989. Berlin's last 20 years should stand as a symbol to the world of hope and unity, but most importantly, remind us all that freedom isn't by any means free.

Domino Wall. Each individual styrofoam domino was hand painted by children all over the world. There were 1000 dominoes.

Fabulous posting. We were there twenty years ago when the Wall came down ... nothing will ever compare to the joy and elation of that time, the pure joy and disbelief of the people of the world.

Your pics are beautiful and thanks for sharing them so soon.

Ishmael,

You are very welcome! It's was my pleasure to share what little bit I can from such an extraordinary evening. You are quite privileged to have been there when the Wall actually came down. I imagine that I only received a small taste last night of the emotions that ran through the city 20 years ago. I agree 100%, it truly was a tremendous event that the world will probably never see the likes of again.

20 years semms like yesterday. Thanks for the pics.
