Local Hotel Earns Environmental Certification
The Hyatt Regency Sacramento Hotel, located at 1209 L St. in Sacramento, has been certified as a Sustainable Business by the Sacramento Regional Sustainable Business Program. The hotel earned the certification by taking voluntary actions to conserve energy, reduce the amount of solid waste generated at their business, conserve water, implement prevent pollution practices, and incorporate green building techniques. Sustainability actions include completing a water use assessment of their entire facility, installing self closing faucets in the restrooms, installation of advanced electronic controls to efficiently maintain building temperatures, upgrading to an energy efficient lighting system, and instituting a recycling program for used paper, toner, and printer cartridges.
The Sustainable Business Program, operated by the Business Environmental Resource Center at McClellan, California, is a free service available to all Sacramento region businesses and organizations. It encourages businesses to conserve resources, prevent pollution, implement green building practices, use energy efficiently, and reduce water consumption.
There is no cost to participate in The Sustainable Business Program. It is made possible through the sponsorship of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD), the Regional Water Authority, the Water Forum, and the Business Environmental Resource Center (BERC).
