Found another great Auburn restaurant yesterday, "Spice of India." The food was incredible and the service second to none. I highly recommend it for liberals and conservatives alike. Lant Barney, Auburn

Sorry Lant, but the restaurant has closed its doors and will not be reopening.
That used to be called the Kathmandu, wasn't it? Or am I confused? On 49 around Walker's Office Supplies.
Ate there a couple of times, I really liked it but my wife wasn't thrilled.
When it comes to Indian food, I prefer to eat liberal portions.
Loomis: Yes, the restaurant was once the Kathmandu, which served Nepali food. It was then sold once or twice, and in the process became Spice of India. Even good restuarants have a hard time breaking even these days. I am still mourning Pasquale T's.
Gulliver,
There is something we can finally agree on... Pasquale T's... R.I.P. I have never found deep fried Raviolis that were so good.
It is closed already? Lant, when did you go there?
Has anyone tired the new Thai restaurant on 49? That makes 3
Thai restaruants and 1 Italian.
asphalt... I am afraid to try it.... I probably would end up Thai-ing 1 on!
Isn't "A Taste Of India" in downtown Auburn?
....err a, I mean, "Spice of India".
No, on 49 across from the Spee Dee oil change place. Does anyone know if it is still open? Someone above said it is closed for good.
I’m sorry it has closed. I enjoyed eating there.
Ok, I'm curious because we have enjoyed eating there since Original Pete's moved out, I called their number. (The restaurant on Hwy 49 next to Dunk'n'Run dounts). It rings & rings then beeps alot and then beeps like you can leave a message. I'll have to drive by tomorrow because ever since I've read this I've got that hankering for Chicken Buryani, medium spice. I hope they're not answering because it's Monday and most restaurants are closed on Mondays.
Spice of India is closed and is not going to reopen. The sheriff returned possession of the premises to the landlord on October 26. The writ of possession was posted on the front door.

Ok so how did Lant eat there? HIs letter stated yesterday which would
have been Nov 7?
Lant ate there on October 4. He mentioned it to me that day and I told him I thought the business was in financial trouble. I think the AJ sat on the letter for a month. By then it was too late.
