Fire inspired brotherhood
Reader Input

While visiting Deck Jesse Hull of Elder’s Senior Mobile Home Park on Aug. 30, the North Auburn 49 Fire had gripped the area’s countryside.

As the heavy black smoke blanketed the sky, local residents knew there was a bad fire nearby which sent several people to investigate its origin and help stop the impending disaster from destroying more property and possibly taking lives.

Local fire and law enforcement responded quickly … thank God!

The ensuing crowds of people worked fiercely with water hoses, shovels and saws to soak houses and numerous brush areas needing immediate attention.

As I moved my friend’s horses from their corral, Mr. Hull watered down my 1971 motorhome … the only place I have to live in.

Hull moved it to safety, while I battled the fire along with the CDF engine and fire hand crews.

The fire could have been a lot worse had people not joined the brotherhood of helping each other to stop it.

Thanks, Deck Jesse Hull, for saving my home, while I went to save others.

Very inspiring. We need to see more acts of selflessness.
