This week's big football matchup comes in the Sierra Foothill League, where unbeaten Rocklin hosts 7-1 Del Oro in a battle for the Sierra Foothill League title.
Until last Friday night, this looked like a clash of unbeaten titans, but then Woodcreek came along and spoiled the party as it knocked the Golden Eagles from the ranks of the unbeaten.
Was that loss a major wake-up call for Del Oro? Will the Golden Eagles be back in top form this week when they visit the Thunder in Rocklin? Or can Rocklin make it two losses in a row for the team from Loomis?
Both teams have dominated almost every team in their path this season, and now they are the two left standing with the top spot in the league on the line with just two weeks remaining before playoff time.

Barring another offensive collapse Del Oro should score at least 20 points. However, Rocklin did limit a very good Granite bay team to only 7(6?). Del Oro was tagged for 20(?) by GB. Of course, D.O. scored 21(?) against GB and Rocklin only 13. So, a common, quality opponent still leaves it a 50/50 bet.
My wish would be a 21-14 Del oro win, but last weeks debacle says Rocklin 24, Del Oro 14. :(
Can't wait for the game tonight, but it's all a prelude to the playoffs, and who will end up on the Grant side of the bracket or St. Marys. The games, played by high school kids always come down to moments missed or made. A fumbled ball bounces just right and it's a long touch down. A soph quarterback fumbles a goalline center exchange and a scoring opportunity is missed. Multiple dropped passes by receivers results in a running game that never gets going....until the second half when the same passes are now caught! So the rankings are ridiculous to debate. Not much difference between GB, DO and Rocklin other than plays missed and plays made. It will be the power game of DO against the mulit-threat Rocklin. Looking forward to a great HS game that is decided by the players and NOT the Zebras...let them play! No commercials, no video review tonight, and no pro prima donnas... just kids with lots of emotion and passion....how refreshing. Gooooo Thunder!
