For if they actually manage to wring out an agreement based on the current draft text of the Copenhagen climate-change treaty, the world is in for some nasty surprises. Draft text, you say? If you haven’t heard about it, that’s because none of our otherwise talkative political leaders have bothered to tell us what the drafters have already cobbled together for leaders to consider. United Nations Leader Ban Ki-moon says $100 Billion Not Enough for Global Warming .

Money paid by rich countries to fight global warming will have to “be scaled up” from the $100bn a year on offer, the UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon said today. Finance is the key, said Ban, to successful negotations on a global treaty to fight climate change, due to conclude at UN talks next month in Copenhagen. Rep. Vern Buchanan Warns Against World Government

Two term congressman Vern Buchanan (R-FL 13th) urges president Barack Obama not to sign the Copenhagen treaty lest the United States surrender itself to a world government.“I read that treaty. And what it says is this: that a world government is going to be created. The word “government” actually appears as the first of three purposes of the new entity. The second purpose is the transfer of wealth from the countries of the West to third world countries, in satisfaction of what is called, coyly, “climate debt”- because we’ve been burning CO2 and they haven’t. We’ve been screwing up the climate and they haven’t. And the third purpose of this new entity, this government, is enforcement.”

Gorbachev Calls for a New World Order

Mikhail Gorbachev said Tuesday that he was proud of his role in the fall of the Berlin Wall 20 years ago, defending himself against Russian critics who accuse him of losing the Soviet empire.

“I am proud that we — and by that I mean both Western and Eastern European countries — found an approach that took everyone’s interests into account, so this most painful thing was liquidated,” Gorbachev said.

Gorbachev indicated that leaders had no choice other than ending the decades-long division of Germany into Communist East and NATO-aligned West.

“The issue is not shame, but the fact there was a split in a country in the centre of Europe, the centre of the world, with a huge population,” he told reporters in Moscow.
