How Low Can YOU Go?
Watch out kids, here I come!

Let's take a much needed break from worrying about the streetscape, the swine flu and even Birch and Observer's recent nuptials and talk about something totally pointless, non-earth shattering, totally unromantic and, yes, actually quite stupid.

Yes, folks I can now SHOOT THE DUCK! Even my teenage daughter can't do this and, you know, when mom can do something the teenager can't - war might follow.

For those of you following my blog on my journey to learn how to roller skate, this is my third installment. After about 8 hours per week of skating for the last three weeks, my legs...and knees...are now strong enough to support my weight as I "get down." And it does help that I have lost about 5 pounds in this process. So any of you wanting/needing some fun AND fitness, come on down and skate with us.

Awesome... now you can take on your roller derby name of Vixen Da CrusHer.

There once was a skater called Gail,

She began skating like a snail,

now, with practice, she's in luck,

cause now she can shoot the duck

That always quacks me up!

I'm going to waddle back to my chair

bob

good one Bob. Thanks Gail. You may want to check out roller derby. I know a couple of ladies that participate and I think you would make a good Roller Derby Queen. It's aggressive but not violent and is a good workout. Of course dance provides exercise as well. Just a thought.

omg that looks like sooo much fun! i am very impressed.

Wow its probably been forty years since I wore a pair of skates. I remember it being quite fun. Go Gail !!

I came back to see comments and I re-read the text. I hope I'm not reading this wrong when I beg the question: Is the wedding of Observer and I as incessant and annoying as Allen Cassidy and the constant stream of swine flu stories? I hope not. Maybe I'm seeing it wrong.

Birch,

Your wedding was annoying - Observer's wedding on the other hand was fascinating, intriguing and uplifting. Does that help??

bob ;-)

In no way Birch are you and Lady Observer even close to being as annoying as AC. I thought you two would be gone for a least a week :)

Ok, ok... I don't want to hijack the thread. (Her wedding was better... lol! Thanks, Bob.)

Also (on that note)... the honeymoon isn't until next weekend. We need my folks to get back from vacation to watch Ishmael (the dog).

Skate on...

There once was a guy named Birch,

Who pontificated from high on a perch

Observer is quite a catch,

But Saladin is not a match

She should have left him in the lurch.

*******************************

Best I could do with such short notice,

bob

I once knew a man named Capp,

Who thought of his rhymes in a snap

But Birch got the girl,

While jammin' on Merle

And this is the end of the rap.

***************************************

My God, it's harder than it looks. Touché, Bob... touché.

The "Merle" is for Haggard.... I'm sure you guessed that. :)

There once was a gal named observer

as cool as can be, nothing would un-nerve her,

Along came Birch

at the end of his search,

Now he desires to serve her.

************************

I'm out!

bob

Gawd guys! You are wrecking my blog with all these dumb limericks!

No, the wedding was not so tedious as our beloved Allen or the flu, I did say that my post would not be as "romantic" as your nuptials (I like that word, ha).

To all who say I need to join the roller derby. Have you seen those ladies? No offense, but I think I would need to redo my whole "look" (although in this pic I am wearing my Alice Cooper concert shirt-but he is kind of old news now) and I also need to get a lot better at skating backwards. I still can't even turn from going forward to backward!

But a week ago I couldn't shoot the duck...so in a year who knows?!? Skilled backwards skating with turning and some fierce body art and unconventional hairstyle to match. Shhh, don't tell my husband I am even thinking about this. ;-)

Gail, good for you!! All I did was street skating on steel wheels. I remember my feet tingling for hours later.

Gail - I would love to take you to the tatoo shop!!

Actually I enjoy much everything in the blogs, some more than others until the Veteran's Day Parade controversy. That really gets to me.

Gail, what is to shoot the duck?

Oh boy, I have a date with Observer to go to the tatoo place! What should I get? And Jayber needs to come, too. ha

Loomis: It is when you extend one leg straight out (your gun) and ride on the other bent leg. After you learn a "cannonball" you can shoot the duck. Maybe these days with all the chicken coop attacks, we can call it "shoot the bear."

Gail: Don't let Observer fool you... it's an evil plan to get you drunk and a large navy vessel tattooed on your chest. She did it to me but I'm so skinny I couldn't fit a Battleship... I got a Brigantine instead. (sigh)

After three kids, I'll take a tug boat. ;-)

Yes! I want to come watch you get 'tooed.
