French Meadows Thunderclouds
I shot these a couple days ago at French Meadows Reservoir as the sun was beginning to set. Granite Chief State Game Refuge is a spectacular area to visit. I live close by, but yet every time I spend a day exploring the area I always find something new and interesting. Eating my lunch along a small creek runoff this Wednesday, I saw a Bald Eagle drop from the sky to grab a small wild trout in a creek that no one would ever guess holds fish this time of year, and the added bonus was the bald eagle. I live in the wilderness and have for a while, but I have not observed a scene like that in my whole life. I have taken thousands of pictures of Bald Eagles, but never have I had that happen, and probably never will again. Wildlife is unforgiving, surreal and graceful when you least expect it, and at times this day, it can all happen all at once. Of course it happened as I was eating lunch, 20 feet from my camera sitting on a tri-pod.:) Drive slow, walk/hike if you can, smell the fresh air, and think about nothing but what your eyes are seeing. I will guarantee you will leave the area feeling much better about life in general than you did before you arrived here. Nature at its best, just slow down to absorb it all and you will be happy with the end result.

Thanks for the nice pictures, I love going to French Meadows and campout.
Beautiful
Very nice FFG. I can identify with the camera at arms length when "the event" happens. :)
