Obama a mere wannabe
Reader Input
I was under the impression when Obama campaigned for president that he was asking for the job. I must have misunderstood the situation. He must have been the new young “American royalty,” inheriting the presidency, and I just did not get the memo. Current polls indicate the American people are realizing he and his minions are incompetent and can only continue the campaign of promises. A true leader would make it perfectly clear that it was his presidency, his economy and his wars on the afternoon of Jan 20. A genuine leader knows he did not “inherit” anything. He ran for the office, he asked for the responsibility. And once he got it, it is all his from that moment on. You never heard a previous leader complain about his predecessor! A wannabe leader does what Obama does. He goes on as long as he can before taking responsibility. He blames everyone who came before for the mess he “inherited.” Obama was a U.S. Senator before being elected president. He did not arrive in Washington from some distant land. If there were problems when he arrived, then as a member of the Senate, he bears some responsibility for what he “inherited,” and holds himself accountable. Do not hold your breath waiting for Obama to make any of the statements you attribute to true leader of all America. He is too busy conducting a war with Fox News, talk radio, insurance companies, all conservatives and most productive people in the country while exciting the ambitions of our enemies! John T. Thank you for that amazingly fact-free, pointless diatribe.
Harry Truman had a sign on his desk that stated "The buck stops here". The way Obama has been frenetically running around the world and the United States on our tax dollars and chinese loans, it is apparent that he does not realize he has a desk much less any responsibility to make decisions. His ineptitude will make Jimmy Carter and Warren Harding look like very good Presidents in comparison to the boy-child in love with his teleprompter.
Skeptic: Sometimes I just marvel at the response from the left to such 100% factual letters. But to call it fact free, when it contains many indisputable facts, is pretty amazing. The amazing part is that you might possibly believe what you posted. No,...that is not possible. You are just being dishonest again, aren't you?
When will President Obama end his senseless two wars? They are draining our economy of vital resources needed at home, not to mention the lives of young men and women he is placing in harm's way.
Skeptic is right. There are no facts in this letter, other than the fact that Obama is a former U.S. Senator. If I have missed any other "indisputable facts" contained in this LTE, please enlighten me.
Rabidog: When will Obama end these two wars.... When ever he get around to making a decision,,,,one way or the other. I personally am not holding my breath.
Skeptic, Gulliver: Oh, the truth hurts sometimes doesn't it. However I disagree with the last sentence, Obama is not exciting our enemies he is making them laugh themselves into laughing fits.
Facts anyone?
Thank you for your thoughtful dissent Septic. It never ceases to amaze me that people like you are able to trod the earth on two legs!
Gulliver, I totally agree, either the LTE or skeptic should present dome facts, one to back up the LTE the other to refute the LTE.
When will he end the wars. Tomorrow is election day throughout the Nation with some very closely contended position. Making any decision before the election would alienate and thus lose a voting block if a particular group doesn't agree with it. Politically is safer to waffle until the election is over. Even though some young men and women may die because of the waffling, it is, no doubt, a small price for our troops to pay to ensure a lasting Obama Dynasty. Hail the Commander In Chief.
Does anyone besides me see the need for an honest third party?
Loomis: me,.... I would, however, settle for an honest 2 parties. That being said, Obama is workng delligently to restore our image as a global player instead of a global ball hog..as in....well you get the picture. Leave the man alone, he has a very difficult job to do, rather, make that UNDO. Again,....in search of intelligent centrist life out there...rarely see in this blogsphere bounded by the AJ editorial pages.
Fact #1
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows that 27% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -13
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/daily_presidential_tracking_poll
-- FACT! Cite one.
A wannabe leader does what Obama does. He goes on as long as he can before taking responsibility. He blames everyone who came before for the mess he “inherited.” -- FACT! Obama has stated numerous times that he inherited his situation.
Obama was a U.S. Senator before being elected president. FACT!
He did not arrive in Washington from some distant land. FACT!
If there were problems when he arrived, then as a member of the Senate, he bears some responsibility for what he “inherited,” FACT!
and holds himself accountable. -- SHOULD hold himself responsible.
Do not hold your breath waiting for Obama to make any of the statements you attribute to true leader of all America. He is too busy conducting a war with Fox News, talk radio, insurance companies, all conservatives and most productive people in the country while exciting the ambitions of our enemies! FACT based opinion.
Public opinion polls are (hold on to your hat)....opinions. But I suppose it is a fact that every human being has a navel . And an opinion.
I agree with Nightingale that Obama did not inherit a single problem.
The truth is, Congress, of which President Obama was previously a member, did condone the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. But people now say they were lied to by Geo. Bush and they would not have voted in favor of going to war.
Bull!! They Democrats have the power to withhold war funding, and they could have done that each year when they approve the budget had they truly felt they were "lied to". But they know there was good reason to go and they continue to approve funding as a result of that conclusion.
So, to say that Obama "inherited" a mess, and imply that he had nothing to do with it in the first place, is a downright lie.
As Mr. Nightingale points out, President Obama should just get on with his job and his apologists need to quit attempting to defer blame onto someone else for any negative outcome that might take place on his watch.
.......and quit flying all over the place at a taxpayer cost of $100k's per trip. No one liked it when George Bush did it, but I don't hear them crying foul now that this president is doing the same thing. H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E-S!!
Where's Canyon_Rant when you need a good decrying!?!
Why don't you run as a third party candidate. You can call your fund raising apparatus "Cash For Doofis". I'm pretty sure you'll nab the homosexual vote.
"I love those folks who helped get us in this mess, and suddenly they say, "This is Obama's economy." That's fine. Give it to me. My job is to solve problems, not stand on the sidelines and carp and gripe."
-President Barack Obama, July 14, 2009, from a speech at Macomb Community College in Warren, Michigan.
I guess since Faux News wasn't running that speech y'all missed it.
I hear you John And stand with you. Together with other patriots we will be on the right side of history.
Same losers always attacking people. im sure its the same 40 yr old fat guy living in his mothers basement. who thinks it cool to attack people on matters that they have no clue about. pay no attention to there cry's John
gulliver: The polls are based on opinions, but the results of the polls are facts.
A 2008 Gallup poll shows that 50% of the US population believes that the earth is less than 10,000 years old. It is a fact that half the people believe something which is not true. Or stated another way, the fact that people believe something does not make their belief true.
Whether you love Obama or hate him, the fact remains that this LTE consists entirely of the writer's opinion. He has a right to that opinion, and maybe he is right. But the expression of an opinion that is not based on facts, while it may comfort others who share the same opinion, has little persuasive value to those who have an open mind.
chemicalbilly,
No one missed that speech, we're just waiting for some action from the president to back up that empty rhetorical promise!
Why are you so afraid of Fox News? We should be welcoming information coming from all sources, not just the ones we agree with.
Somewhere in that pile if information brought to the American people every day via a multitude of sources there's a bit of truth that can be gleaned. That's what we should all be working to distill out of the mish-mash.
If you dismiss Fox News because it brings a different view of politics in the U.S. then you're only showing everyone how frightened you are of dissenting views. That's not what Liberals have been preaching for the past forty years! What's the matter with you? Man-up and take your medicine! There are other intelligent people out there who don't share your narrow view of the world.
Or, you can go on listening to the likes of Canyon_Rant and live a painful ugly life huddled in a mud hut somewhere just above the water-line.
Gulliver: "Whether you love Obama or hate him, the fact remains that this LTE consists entirely of the writer's opinion."
No, its not entirely consisting of the writer's opinion. It consists of facts and opinions. Facts are statements that can be proven true or false and there are numerous facts provided in the letter.
"He has a right to that opinion, and maybe he is right. But the expression of an opinion that is not based on facts, while it may comfort others who share the same opinion, has little persuasive value to those who have an open mind."
You fail to recognize that his opinion IS based on facts. You may disagree with his conclusion or opinion, but you cannot win the argument by ignoring the facts and pretending they do not exist.
And what is that last part about "open mind"... are you suggesting that you have one?
gregcalac: I always chuckle when I see attacks on Fox News as being such a right-wing media outlet because they dare to have conservative commentators.
This morning I heard them refer to the Republican candidate in NY as "moderate" about twenty times even though she was so LIBERAL that she dropped out of the race to give support to the Democrat candidate.
Fox News does not even acknowledge that there are liberal Republicans. They pretend that the most liberal Republican is a moderate, and the most moderate Democrat is conservative. They do this because they also have a left-of-center viewpoint.
I'm not afraid of Faux News, just the people that think it's actually a news channel. It's pure political commentary, which is fine. I'm actually glad Faux News exists, because I can see for myself wingnut derangement in its purest form.
It's hard to find news that is free from some sort of bias, to be sure (except the boxscores). But when a channel is run by and staffed by GOP operatives (chief executive Roger Ailes in particular) whose sole intention is to be the voice of the opposition party ...well, it's hard to take them seriously as journalists.
YS--what could possibly make you think Faux News has a left of center viewpoint? What commentators do they have that you wouldn't consider to be conservative (is Mike Huckabee as close as it gets)? Do they have anyone with a left-of-center viewpoint that has his/her own show? Note---just because Juan Williams fills in for BillO every now and again doesn't mean there's balance.
Y_S: On at least one occasion Rasmussen skewed their sample methodology by asking opinions only of registered Republicans. That may not be true of the current poll that you cite, but Gallup Polls say 52.9% approve of the president's job performance.
An Associated Press poll says 56 percent of those surveyed approve of the job the President is doing.
MSNBCsays 39 percent of those polled said they disapproved of President Obama's performance in office. This number is down from 49 percent in October, 2009.
Americans remain pessimistic about the direction of the country, but that has started to improve. Forty-one percent now believe the U.S. is headed in the right direction, compared with only 37 percent in September 2009. [source: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33198986/ns/politics-white_house/]
Concerns about the economy, health care, and two frighteningly expensive wars persist and support for the war in Afghanistan continues to fall.
"I admit it; the liberal media were never that powerful, and the whole thing was often used as an excuse by conservatives for conservative failures. (quote: William Kristol)
-
"I've gotten balanced coverage and broad coverage, all we could have asked. For heaven sakes, we conservatives kid about the "Liberal Media," but every Republican on earth does that. " (quote: Pat Buchanan)
Skeptic, you forgot my favorite one.
“Now look what’s out, all of this conservative media: conservative talk radio; television; Fox news; the conservative blogosphere.” - Rush Limbaugh
This is getting tedious, but I will try one more time: What facts are set forth in the LTE besides the fact that (1) Obama is a former US Senator, and (2) at least one opinion poll shows that his popularity has recently declined? And yes, I have an open mind. That's why I try so hard to separate fact from conventional wisdom.
Billy, you confuse the commentary with the reporting.
Fox definitely provides a more conservative commentary than any other media outlet.
The difference in the reporting is slim though. They referred to Dede Scozzafava as a moderate multiple times. What made her a "moderate"?
Was it her support for government sponsored abortion?
Her support for ObamaCare?
Her support for nationalizing homosexual marriage?
Her endorsement of the Democrat over her conservative opponent even though he was ahead in the polling?
To most media outlets, this might look moderate, but to the average American, its liberal.
Yosemite,
you claim that: "You never heard a previous leader complain about his predecessor! -- FACT! Cite one." Bush and his administration repeatedly refereed to an inherited Clinton recession. Here are three such examples:
“When I took office, our economy was beginning a recession.” — Bush, 8/7/02
“The president inherited a Clinton recession and turned it into the early stages of Bush prosperity.” — Secretary of Commerce Don Evans, 9/2/04
“In terms of the economy, look, I inherited a recession, I am ending on a recession.” — Bush, 1/12/09
Hmmm...so, Mr. Nightingale, since a "genuine leader knows he did not “inherit” anything" I guess we can look forward to GW Bush accepting all blame for 9/11 in his upcoming book. But that assumes someone out there still actually considers him a "genuine leader". That's a very bold assumption.
Or is your notion that a President enters into office with no burdens dumped on him by his predecessor is merely a rightwing rant, convenient now that a Democrat is in office? Oh wait...asked and answered.
NashGrumbler: We all know that Abraham Lincoln did not inherit anything and history acordingly condemns him for the secession of the southern states and the resulting civil war. And Franklin Roosevelt didn't inherit anything either. The stock market crash of 1929 is just a vicious rumor, never really happened.
The election is over...you won so shut up and deal with it :-)
Actually, YS, Faux News is the one that confuses commentary with reporting. Every day.
GEN U INE leader eh?
The great Communicator had this to say "the "ills we suffer have come upon us over several decades. They will not go away in days, weeks or months, but they will go away . . . because we as Americans have the capacity now, as we've had it in the past, to do whatever needs to be done to preserve this last and greatest bastion of freedom. "
In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem.
The ills we suffer? Crisis? Hmmmm. MIghty suspicious words.........
the great communicator in his1983 state of the union address............
"It has fallen to us, in our time, to undo damage that was a long time inthe making, and to begin the hard but necessary task of building a better future for ourselves and our children"
"The problems we inherited were far worse than most inside and out of government had expected; the recession was deeper than most inside and out of government had predicted."
Did he say INHERITED? Hmmm. Gutless wonder.
Well, we finally have some facts. Thanks to Joszef Pelikan and chrishamm, with an assist from NashGrumbler. Just not facts that support anything Nightingale or his defenders have so freely opined upon.
FreedTinkerton - I think the word you're groping for is "tread." It's the present tense of "trod."
You're welcome.
so now Obama isn't even making up original excuses? :) Have fun, guys.
greg, "We should be welcoming information coming from all sources, not just the ones we agree with." Why don't you try it
"Obama did not inherit a single problem" Really? Do you believe that? You're on a rant spewing the "facts" you garner on hate radio. "100K trips?" You're really grasping there. Try music on those drives instead of your current sources of propaganda. You think it's the right move to withhold funding for our troops in the field?
The reason Fox News has a bad name and is because they employ clowns. Change the channel, you are embarrassing yourself
"I love those folks who helped get us in this mess, and suddenly they say, "This is Obama's economy." "
Think about what it means to say “give it to me” about the economy. The American economy is the sum of the producing, trading, and consuming of some 300 million individuals whose lives and choices rightfully belong to them—not to Barack Obama. Of course, Obama and most of the economic establishment believe that leaving these 300 million individuals free is what caused all of today’s economic problems. It is our freedom that is the fundamental “problem” that Obama thinks it is his job to “solve”—by dictating every realm of our economic lives, from the money we use to the interest rates we pay to the medical care options available to the forms of energy we may use.
But freedom is not a problem, and the President’s job is not to solve it—his job is to protect it." Ayn Rand Center
Great job John- The libs and their entitlement mentality have their panties all in a bunch here. Seems they feel entitled to facts even in an opinion piece. Not that you didn't give them any, just nothing they liked. The amount of vociferous dissent is a good sign you nailed it. Heck even Skeptic chimed in a couple of times. I thought he might have gotten a job or something as scarce as he's been. History will prove Obama to be the biggest joke we've ever elected. And you are absolutely correct about our enemies, they couldn't be more pleased with apologizer in chief.
Last post was mine, not my wife's. But she agrees!
"who thinks it cool to attack people on matters that they have no clue about. pay no attention to there cry's John " Wow, bigboy, that is an interesting attempt to use the English language.
The only thing BHO is good at is speaking-campaigning with the id of TelePrompTers loaded with words from others. Thus that is what he does most days.
I call any day BHO does not appear on TV a “freedom day”. We have had few of those since his election.
John,
What facts are in Mr. Nightingale's letter other than that Obama was a senator and that "he did not arrive in Washington from some distant land"?
ChuxxR,
Nice work, I was hoping someone would call me on that. I never finished my sentence when I said, "....Obama did not inherit a single problem". That should have said, ".....a single problem that couldn't be resolved with the help of a Democratic dominated Congress." I never went back and finished my thought.
I do listen to and take in information from many sources. Because I disagree with you then you think I must be listening to Rush and watching Glenn Beck? I don't listen to talk radio and I don't watch Glenn Beck. I do listen to music more now that Obama has been elected president.
How much do you think it costs to put that jumbo jet into the air for even a short flight to Chicago? I remember liberals crying alligator tears when President George W. Bush would fly to his ranch in Texas. Come on, Chaz, fair criticism is fair.
I never said I thought it was right to withhold funding for our troops in the field. In fact, I believe just the opposite. Why would you make such a quantum leap?
I said I was surprised that a Democrat controlled congress didn't simply stop the funding for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, when the budget is up for renewal, if they are so opposed to them. Obviously they are not opposed to these wars or they would come to a sudden end. There is no one in the way of Democrats ending the wars, yet they don't.
Did not Barack Obama campaign on the promise to end the war in Iraq?
We Americans want to see progress and change now. Obama had done a lot since taking office. He closed Gitmo, allowed Libyan Islamic social dictator Muammar Khadafi to pitch his tent on U.S soil. He cancelled the White House's National Day of prayer breakfast the day after his mother's birth state ,Hawaii, adopted "National Islam Day". And don't forget the impressive win of the Nobel Peace Prize because no one in the whole world had thought about peace and how the world would be a better place if we could all huddle in for a big group hug. For those who wish he would do more, give the guy a break, Barack Hussein Obama may still be on Kenya time. He still has another 3 years to make good on the rest of his promises. I am sure there will be plenty of change.
Chuxx, Fox News has a bad name? They are the number one rated cable news network in the country. Do you know why? They are number one because of the way out liberal slant from the other cable news networks. See, CNN, MSNBC and the others have a bad name from being a puppet to the liberal politician. That’s how Fox News came to be such a hit. Some of their talk shows have a slant to the right, but their news doesn’t. That is the same with CNN and the others, except for their choice of news. Most of their talk shows slant waaaay to the left. What goes around comes around.
Facts anyone?? No? Didn't think so.
Joszef-what kind of facts are you willing to accept? The fact that Barack Hussein Obama is a snappy dresser and is an Oprah fan? There that should be deep enough for you to wrap your shallow opinion around.
wakefield: If you have facts, let's hear them.
be careful gulliver...if you ask wake too many questions he / she will accuse you of not being nice and then run and hide.
Let's see, If I inherit one hundred dollars from a dead aunt, is it my money or my dead aunt's money? I think it is now my money. If I inherit a problem, I think it becomes my problem.
JonGreen: Suppose your dead aunt died penniless, leaving a $100,000 hospital bill. You gonna pick up that tab?
gulliver. What is the President of the United States responsible for? I am not legally responsible for the hospital bill. Obama may have inherited problems but he is responsible for trying to fix them. So far not much progress. The first thing he should do is accept ownership of the problems and not blame others.
Greg, and where do you think Obama is supposed to pull an acceptable solution for the wars, out of his bum? That's how GW did it. I am glad to Announce that Obama uses his head to arrive at answers and solutions. He's a good man Greg. The "facts" you spew are straight out of the mouth of hate radio. Instead of believing lies and propaganda look inside yourself and ask. Are the things you are ranting about Known to yourself? I'm not talking about the "facts" you are being fed. You are throwing s*** out there and hoping it will stick. Perpetrating lies and divining the future. I didn't pay attention to Bush's flights anymore than I do Obama's. Why do you even bring it up? Want the CIC to fly coach.
Grgcalc, Of course the funding for the 2 wars GWB started can't be stopped immdediately. There are over 200,000 American troops in Aphganistan and Irag. There are many 100 of thousands of private contractors. There are 100,000's of thousands if not millions of displaced Iraqi people whose entire world was wiped becuase of GWB's Stupendous "Shock and Awe" bombing. These problems can't be just abandoned at this point. Perhaps you should have thought about this when you were shouting your support for the worst president and his lieing , scheming VP.
Joseph Pelican, go to Wikapedia. They explain Fox News’ rating there; they are number one in cable news. I hope you’re man enough to come back and admit it. It is common knowledge that Fox is the number one cable news network. The others slanted way too far to the left. MSNBC is so in bed with the Obama administration. Our media was supposed to expose our politicians for improper behavior. Fox is the only one still doing that. There are your facts. I’ll be waiting to hear from you.
MKdudet, Then, why did Obama say he would pull out of Iraq immediately? Was he naïve? Did he not know what he was talking about?
Patrick,
I never said Fox News wasn't highly rated, but just because it has high ratings doesn't mean it is fair and balanced.
Fox news is not the ONLY news exposing the improper behavior of politicians. I have to get going, but if you like I can provide you with examples.
Source P50
Where was Fox News in the last eight years? Hiding behind their partisan drivel? The Brits cut and ran that's why 40,000 troops are being requested. Winter is coming and the Taliban need refuge. Because of the hatred towards the occupiers many citizens are welcoming them home. Our puppet leaders in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan are unwanted. Instability in the region would disrupt our need to feed on oil. I see all the automakers pumping out cars and trucks that fuel the inane desire that more horsepower is better. They don't care about our nation or the future of our young. Neither does Fox News.
Joseph, I said they were the number one rated cable news source. You said “facts anyone? No?” “Didn’t think so.” I provided the facts. Remember that post where we were discussing your inability to admit you were wrong or acknowledge when someone lese was correct? Well, here’s one more example.
Chuxx, If you watched Fox News, you would know they were very critical of Bush. They certainly didn’t purposely withhold worthy news the way CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC and ABC does, if it is a negative for Obama. I don’t know what reality you live in. Please give an example of how Fox News “doesn’t care about our nation or the future of our young.”
joszef and gulliver-since the facts in my first post didn't really count here are a few more of the amazing things Barack Hussein Obama has done during his Presidency.
3 days after taking oath BHO overturned the "Mexico City Policy" on overseas funding of abortion on demand. Now the International Planned Parenthood Federation can operate at full speed using U.S tax dollars. Obama supports partial birth abortion where the fetus is pulled from mother's womb and has it's head crushed before fully making it out of birth canal. HOWEVER he banned waterboard interrogation because it is inhumane. Those who are detained and deemed too dangerous on U.S soil may get scared.
Within a month of his oath BHO signed the 787 billion dollar economic stimulus follwed by the bank bail-out and auto bail-out. On June 4th Barack Hussein Obama gave a speech at the Cairo University in Egypt calling for a new beginning in relationships between the Islamic World and the U.S.A.
Really, with all that Barack Hussein Obama has already done for U.S citizens, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a Purple Heart to go with his Nobel Peace Prize.
Bastiat-get your dictionary out. I am sure I misspelled a word here or there, which I am sure you will argue that I have no idea about politics as well as science. Hey I saw I misspelled useage in the global warming post-wondering if you can guess my shoe size based on that.
Patrick,
I didn't respond to your post, because Fox's ratings are not really relevant to the conversation. I did not intend to dispute your claim about Fox's ratings.
wake - you are entitled to your opinion related to politics...you are not entitled to your opinion regarding scientific facts.
wakefield: My original challenge, repeated by Joszeph Pelikan, was that anyone identify a single fact contained in the original LTE, besides that fact that Obama is a former US Senator and that he "did not arrive in Washington from some distant land." But although your facts were not in the LTE, I thank you for them just the same. The odd thing is that you cite these facts in an attempt to condemn Obama, while I view the same facts reasons to credit Obama. I support a woman's right to choose, whether in the United States or overseas. I don't think our government should torture people. The stimulus package appears to be working. And what's wrong with "a new beginning in relationships between the Islamic World and the USA?" Bottom line, last Novemver more people agreed with Obama's positions on these facts than disagreed. Its going to a long 8 years for you, I'm afraid.
mkdudet,
Of course the war can't end abruptly. I'm not saying that.
I'm saying the Democrats have the power to end it, whether that be in a year, or two, or three, but they aren't saying anything of the sort.
They're screwing around with health care and we've got people dying in dust bowl hell. You can see where their priorities lie, and it seems more like legacy building then serious governing.
ChuxxR,
I already told you I don't listen to talk radio. Unless you are riding around on my shoulder and know for fact that I'm not telling you the truth, shut up and go to your room. ;-)
gulliver,
It's going to be a long 8 years for everyone if Obama doesn't do something concrete about the war in Afghanistan. Presidents today do not have the luxury of time. They've got to get in and put some wheels on their cart, or go home.
I'm not throwing in the towel on this one just yet. I still have hopes that he'll live up to his hype.
gulliver- a woman has the right to chose, but shouldn't a voter have the right to chose as well? I would rather my tax dollars go toward education in our country rather than abortions in another part of the world. Even Bill Clinton opposed partial birth abortion because of the heinous act that it is and unlike waterboarding, everyone who is subject to it dies a very painful death. I am thankful that the stimulus package has been working, think of how many more forclosure and going out of business signs would dot our neighborhoods and communities had we not borrowed money from...where did it come from again. I am sure you can help me out on that one. Maybe we saved that much by running all those windmills that Barack Hussein Obama had in the background of his campaign ads.
And if New Jersey, where Barak Hussein Obama promoted the Democrat incumbent five times and still lost the Dem seat to a conservative Republican, and theVirginia elections are any indication of voter sentiment, it may be a very short three more years for you. Last Novemebr people voted and this November they are already regretting that decision in two traditionally blue states.
Bastiat-thanks so much for allowing me to have an opinion on politics and informing me that I am not entitled to having an opinion on global warming. That is keeping an open mind.
Joseph, It was relevant to the conversation. I was responding to something Chuxx Said. You chimed in. It was your choice to do so.
greg, I was just going by what you told me.
Patrick,
Just because my comment follows yours does not mean I am addressing you. My comment "Facts anyone?? no? didn't think so?" was referring to the lack of facts present in the LTE, and happened to come after your comment about Fox news.
wake - you may have an opinion on climate change...just don't pretend that your opinion is supported by science...it isn't.
Bastiat - I guess "You are not entitled to your opinion reguarding scientific facts" was just an inconvenient mistake. Thanks for clearing that up.
wake - it was not a mistake...but I can see how my intent may not have been entirely clear to you as, I admit, I did not communicate it well. what I was attempting to say is that there is no right or wrong to a political opinion...any opinion you may have related to what you believe to be the most effective way to govern our community, regardless of the "content" your beliefs, is valid and you are entitled to it.
the statement that you made on the climate change post regarding a scientific fact being more relevant than a scientific theory is factually incorrect. my post: "you are not entitled to your opinion regarding scientific facts." was in response to that post by you. again, that post by you was factually incorrect, irregardless of your opinion on the subject. the quote below is from the US National Academy of Sciences website:
"A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world, based on a body of facts that have been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experiment. Such fact-supported theories are not "guesses" but reliable accounts of the real world. The theory of biological evolution is more than "just a theory." It is as factual an explanation of the universe as the atomic theory of matter or the germ theory of disease. Our understanding of gravity is still a work in progress. But the phenomenon of gravity, like evolution, is an accepted fact."
wake - you are entitled to any opinion that feels right to you related to whether climate change is caused, at least in part, by human activity. that doesn't mean that any opinion you conjure on this subject will be supported by scientific evidence, scientific facts, or scientific theories. revel in your opinion, scream it from the mountaintops. just quit trying to prove that your non-scientific opinion is supported by science...it isn't.
bastiat-are you done now? this thread is about John's LTE concerning Barack Hussein Obama. I am proud of you for looking things up on your own but you are getting a little ADD on us here. Stay focused.
wake - you have been proven wrong but are incapable of admitting it...I am very focused and you are very wrong...doesn't that make it about time for you to run and hide?
Run and hide? It's time to go the work, someone has to help pay for all the third world abortions gulliver supports.
how many lawns do you have to mow to pay for one third world abortion?
I just love, the poliitcal posturiing by the bushco apologists.
Obama as President of the United States owns developing the solutions to the problems that face the Nation. It comes with the territory.
The Wars will always be Bushco's wars.
Despite John T Whinetingale's braindead letter, Obama inhenited this mess from Bush, just as Reagan inherited the economic mess from Carter.
Conservatives love to point to Reagan as one of our greatest leaders. Reagan is quoted as saying he inherited the economic problems, and he inherited the Iran hostage situation too.
Joseph, My apologies, I thought you were responding to me.
There is no question Obama, the President, inherited the mess; however, since Obama was so responsible for making the mess, he doesn’t get a break. Additionally, at some point a president becomes responsible for the mess. The longer it goes on, the more it becomes Obama’s. That’s just the way it works.
Pat, Obama became responsible for the mess the moment he became president. Now he's dealing with all of the messes and madness. Yet you and your ilk won't support him at all. Even if what he is doing is right. Kwiturbitchen He can't do a thing to please you, you feel he will never do anything to please you. It's time to for us to get beyond all the hyperbole. He's our president, get used to it.
"since Obama was SO responsible for making the mess" huh? SO?
bastiat-if I mowed any lawns besides my own-one lawn would be one lawn too many. We have too much to take care of in our country to be reversing policies that were already declared bad policies by former administrations-Dem and Rep. This is my last post on this thread. Hurry and post so you can have the satisfaction of having the last word.
Chuxx, Obama and his cohorts created the bad paper mess. He is responsible. I could just see you if it had been Bush that supported the bad paper; you would be all over him. What a hypocrite you are.
If liberals can blame Bush for 9/11, nine months into his term, then these are Obama's wars. Don't try to hold a hypocritical double standard.
Obama's closed Gitmo...Uhh. Wait. No he hasn't. He stopped tax breaks for the wealthy...Uhhh. Well, no. Instead he gave giant corporations, bankers, CEO's and other rich folks more money than Bush could have using an earthmover! Wait! Obama kept his Administration free of lobbyists like he promised. Oops. No on that one too, huh? He's engaged Ahmadinejhad, Chavez and Kim Jong Il in dialogue. No? Obama's led a bi-partisan government like he promised during the campaign. Gee. Nope!
I know. Obama re-established a proud America by bringing the Olympics back to the United States. That didn't work so well either did it? Well, President Obama's led a government and Administration that's more responsive and accountable to the people. What?! He appointed HOW MANY CZARS?! But he got them all vetted by Congress...No huh?
Obama gave General McCrystal the troops he asked for and said he needed to do...the...job...in...Afghanistan. He hasn't? For how long? But Obama never turned the return of combat casualties into a news event...Ummm. Yeah. I guess he did, didn't he?
He's raised how much campaign cash in how many fund raisers? Made how many insipid references to "getting out the mop?"
The question really is, when does he stop campaigning and start acting like a President? Or maybe we should be really glad he's not.
