Once again I have the opportunity to boast about the excellence of the Auburn Symphony under the direction of Maestro Michael Goodwin.

This past weekend, Oct. 24-25, Maestro Goodwin took us on a journey , a musical tour actually, of Mussorgsky’s amazing original piano masterpiece showing us how its full potential was realized in Ravel’s vivid orchestration.

The audience loved the piece and responded with shouts of “bravo” and clapping that went on for quite a while. Congratulations, Maestro and orchestra. It was truly magnificent.

Curtis Kidwell was our guest soloist playing the oboe, and was brilliant. We are so fortunate to have Curtis as the principal oboist with the Auburn Symphony. Congratulations to you, Curtis.

Before the orchestra played, Jennifer Keck, our former executive director, was acknowledged and thanked for her years and many hours spent pulling everything together making the Auburn Symphony work so perfectly.

Thanks again, Jennifer. We miss and love you more than ever.

The Auburn Symphony is no longer a “hidden treasure.” It is the greatest treasure Auburn has.
