Obama systematically dismantling USA
Reader Input Online
From the moment he bungled the oath of office at high noon on Jan. 20, 2009, left hand on the Lincoln bible in an attempt to emulate a man he is so unlike and his right hand raised promising to uphold the Constitution and protect this nation from all enemies, foreign and domestic, President Barack Hussein Obama began to systematically dismantle the United States as we know it, urged on by the fingers of Machiavellian puppeteers who pull his strings to turn this exceptional country into a third world banana republic. He wasted little time in taking over the nation’s banking system; dictating compensation received by some of Wall Street’s top executives; attempting to completely overhaul a health care system that simply needed a little tweaking; took over America’s automobile industry, dreaming up the ill-advised “Cash for Clunkers” that saw sales plummet more than 50 percent the month after it was over; sabotaging this nation’s long-standing leadership role in world affairs by intentionally disrespecting – at home and particularly abroad. His economic stimulus package, shepherded by Treasury Secretary Tim (No Tax) Geitner, is a complete and utter failure, a botched, wrong-headed and intentional approach that only makes matter worse, leads to no easing of the recession despite what the White House says, consummating in record unemployment bordering on 10 percent and growing daily. Do you recall the time-honored admonition, “physician, heal thyself?” Well, our economy would have healed itself over time simply by leaving it alone and stimulating the area that is at the heart of our employment base, small business, with tax incentives. Worst of all, Obama is now endangering the lives of thousands of America’s sons and daughters - soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen - in Afghanistan by ignoring the repeated requests of his boots-on-the-ground commanding general, Stanley McChrystal, for an additional 40,000 to 60,000 troops to keep al Qaida off our shores. In a war fought to preserve the Union, not tear it apart as Obama is so dedicated in accomplishing, the man he seeks to emulate, Abraham Lincoln, desired generals who knew how to fight, and used every resource to provide them the men and material needed to achieve “victory,” a term not in Obama’s vocabulary. Lincoln kept firing generals that would not fight until he found some who would. And, Obama will not even support and heed the advice of his Afghanistan commander, who does want to fight. Pray for our country. It is sorely in need of divine intervention. Chuck Butler Granite Bay

RIGHT ON CHUCK!!!!
This is probably the most accurate, best written, letter in a long time.
Chuck, the cash for clinkers was a success. It helped push the GDP up for the first time in two years. Don't forget that there are elections on November 3rd. and in places like New Jersey the Governor's seat is at stake and people are very unhappy with the Democrats there. Of course once the elections are over the Government will adjust the GDP to show that the former number was inflated but too late, some Democrats' behinds will have been saved. I wonder if the same sleigh of hand will work in 2010.
Have you noticed an increase in suicide bombings in Iraq and a big increase in American casualties in Afghanistan? While Obama waffles waiting for elections to be over, Americans die.
As far as the banks, Wall Street, etc, that is just the beginning of the path to nationalization. I got a big kick of the Democrats tearing into the Auto executives for flying corporate jets to the meeting in Washington, they got ripped apart due to the fact that while the companies were going bankrupt they flew private jets. Couldn't we say the same about Pelosi, after all, if it weren't for the fact that the Federal Government can print money the country would be bankrupt, yet she still flies a much larger "corporate " jet home every weekend.
Politicians, I don't care what party they are affiliated with, they really are not going to do the right thing for the Country or it's people, they only care about themselves and what they can get out of the system. They are all crooks.
Chuck, Get your fact correct. The President Obama did not "bugle the oath". It was chief Justice Roberts, a fact later verified by the justice himself.
Ricko92, true but the rest of the LTE is accurate.
Remember the old rumor that hippies were going to put LSD in the water system? I guess it wasn't a rumor.
Would one of you really smart people divide the population of the United States into the total money spent on the stimulus plans and let me know how much money every citizen would have received it the government had just written a check to each of us? I think it is a really big number.
Change "it" to "if"
Loomis you are usually a pretty rational guy, you slipped on Cash for Clunkers.
"The U.S. government is calling its Cash for Clunkers program a big success, with nearly 690,000 vehicles sold in July and August. But a report by automotive Web site Edmunds.com says the program actually cost taxpayers $24,000 per car sold.
Only 125,000, or 18%, of the sales were incremental, according to Edmunds.com -- the remaining 82% of sales would have happened regardless of the program.
The $24,000 is the price for the sales of vehicles that were a direct result of the program, Edmunds.com said.
The clunkers program gave car buyers rebates of up to $4,500 if they traded in less-fuel-efficient vehicles for new vehicles that met certain fuel-economy requirements. The government set aside $3 billion for those rebates." edmunds.com
Many of those sales will come back as repo's as the cash incentive allowed many without good credit to purchase, once again, above their ability to pay. The mortgage mess all over, but on a smaller scale.
As far as the rise in GDP, wait until the numbers come out on the 4th quarter.
Chuck, Do you smoke crack for breakfast?
Instead of finding real solutions and participating in the process Chucky relies on "divine intervention". I guess it can't hurt any.
"attempting to completely overhaul a health care system that simply needed a little tweaking"
"our economy would have healed itself over time simply by leaving it alone"
"sabotaging this nation’s long-standing leadership role in world affairs by intentionally disrespecting"
Chuck is trying to be a comedian.
ChuxxR, glennmeadowvista,
I respect your right to a differing opinion than Chuck Butler, but on a serious note, do you think the war in Afghanistan is worth fighting, and should the President take the advice of Gen. McChrystal and increase the troop level?
"Worst of all, Obama is now endangering the lives of thousands of America’s sons and daughters - soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen - in Afghanistan by ignoring"
Chuck where have you been for the last 8 years? We've been shouting out about Afghanistan being ignored for years. Instead of going after the people responsible for 9/11, you got brainwashed by Rove and Cheney into thinking that Iraq was a bigger threat to America than the people who attacked us on 9/11.
"He wasted little time in taking over the nation’s banking system; dictating compensation received by some of Wall Street’s top executives;"
And instead we should have given them the bail out money without any string attached like Bush did right?
This LTE would have had an inkling of a chance of being useful if it had been written a few years ago, but brainwashing (and probably stupidity) got in the way.
2049er: In your case with all the spending that Obama is doing and the failures of his programs.. well you are just in denial that Obama can do no wrong.
Even I, for a middle of the road person can equally point out that Bush did some good things and bad things. Just like Clinton did good and bad things.
Chuck B - OK - Now tell us what's really bothering you? Still have some stock left? Maybe stock in military armor or security? Is your son vying for a job on Wall Street? You fear something and I'm guessing it has something to do with money????? Hey bro...Rome is burning and the merchant ships are going elsewhere. The party is over and the chickens have come home to roost. We've had a good run and now it's someone else's turn to enjoy the bounty. Be grateful for what you have :-)
Yosemite - Don't worry, my friend. Birch & I might start a veggie exchange one day soon so everybody will eat. We put our winter garden in, well, part of it. We have bermuda onions, some wierd broccoli-cross-cauliflower hybrid, lettuce mix, cabbage, bok choy and a few other things I can't remember. Are you gardening this winter?
Observer. We planted 30 mandarins. They will be bearing fruit in 3 years. We will trade for vegetables. Also Cherry, Peach, Plums, etc.
Hi Greg, We have been over in that sewer pit for 8 years, Has their really been a good outcome? Is anything really better? Look at Iraq, it's still a mess. Are we just going to stay their forever? I believe it will be never ending. Enough of our kids being killed, enough of wasting money over their. I believe it's time to bring all our troops home, Then NUKE that whole damn place.
Mr. VP tells us the stimulus has saved jobs. Prove that one. Smoke and mirrors and a little misdirection is all we the people are going to get from either party. The neophytes in power are causing more problems then we had. What can we do?
Glenn: napalm is better. Doesn't radiate the oil.
fourgen: "What can we do?" - nothing or you'll be jailed under the Patriot Act.
The neophytes are causing more problems than we had?
Compared to the keystone copz who destroyed the economy? With collosal failures to end the Afghan mess years ago?
Great letter Chuck Butler.
It is clear to me, that this President is in way over his head, and our international threats can't be dealt with unless he breaks free from the grip the lunatics on the left have on him. He appears frozen with fear over the idea of doing what is needed for our national security and the consequences such decisions will have on the loyalty of those Liberals who got him where he is today.
I think he knows he can't do both....and he has no experience to fall back upon.
Mike, no president has any experience being CIC during a war. GW had experience in his second presidency and how did that turn out?
No it's a new world out there and the old ways have cost the lives of too many of or young. President Obama is not making rash decisions. There's a great deal of responsibility on his shoulders and I'm sure he will ponder things thoroughly. He is not making decisions for himself he's making them for America.
"you'll be jailed under the Patriot Act." With full support of the President and Congress. So I guess nothing is all we can do. I'm sure that was not how this country was founded.
ChuxxR,
You mean a President isn't going to enter the Oval Office with having previously been a US President during War?
Pretty safe statement there Chux.
I like Ike.
Dwight David Eisenhower.
Closest person I can think of to complete your opening riddle.....
There are 60 seconds to every minute.
Where is this timeless chasm you speak of between the old and new world? Is it the trench warfare of WWI you speak to? Or the cannon balls of Gettysburg? Or are you actually saying that there is a vast difference between November 1, 2008 and November 1, 2009? Obama is making mind bending rash decisions, is at best a rookie Senator, and no life experiences I have been made awayre of that remotely qualifies him to sholder the responsibilties of the Office he holds. When a deer freezes in your headlights, it ain't thinking about the health of the forest habitat....it is stuck in position in catatonic shock.
Obama is behaving as if he is America, at least the Amerika he's hoping for, and I respectfully disagree with you.
I believe he is putting himself and his socialist liberal agenda way in front of America.
This troop deployment isn't some sudden earth shattering new twist to American stratedgy in the region. All of these scenarios are played out well in advance with mind blowing man hours of intel and pentagon war-room think tanks. Every possible contingency is hammered out until one final moment remains; a decision.
All he sees are headlights.
Mike Guber, Don't you recall that the overwhelming majority of Americans voted the president into office to bring our occupation forces back home? That's right. If you can't live with that, don't vote for him again.
"He is putting himself and his socialist liberal agenda way in front of America?" God, I sure hope so. We could use some of that liberal European-style socialism around here.
Skeptic,
I don't think Obama won the election based his "bring the troops home" promise (still hasn't done it yet has he).
A democrat was going to win in 08 period. Obama was swept in from left field (way more left than the gullible Independent voters thought) and carried to the Oval office by Oprah and the dependent masses who were under the impression a new house, car, and Obama-bucks bank account was just around the bend (still hasn't done it yet has he).
It was American Idol in Washington.
And now we have a guy with barely the credentials or experience to run a business dancing around the halls of Congress still playing that magic flute. He's in over his head, surrounded by Chicago "yes-men", and we are all going to pay for this curettage of democracy.
If you are so fond of European-socialism why are you in America? Nothing is stopping you.
Once a marine, always a marine...right?
You want to see more blood getting spilled in the streets of our cities? You want to turn our backs on an enemy who wants your head on a stick in the name of their God and will stop at nothing to destroy the US?
I just flat out don't believe you. I'd like to think you'd be the first into harms way....
If not, then quit expecting me to accept the fate your ignorance will produce.
Not a chance. Huge mistakes are being made and we'll have to live with the consequences.
Our future has been sold. We are apologizing to our enemies.
I'll vote, here, and in 2012.
First eight months, not bad so far. What are you wishing for Mike? Failure.
Chux,
Obviously there are a lot of things I want Obama to fail at achieving.
Weakening our National Security first and foremost.
Mike, How has Obama weakened "our National Security?" American Imperialistic Aggression has been instrumental in making enemies.
Instead of "Speak softly but carry a big stick" we have been running around beating everything with our "Big Stick."
Civilians always bear the brunt of war. That's where our enemies are coming from.
“I’m the only major candidate who opposed this war from the beginning.
And as president, I will end it.
I will cut tens of billions of dollars in wasteful spending.
I will cut investments in unproven missile defense systems.
I will not weaponize space.
I will slow our development of future combat systems.
And I will institute an independent defense review board to endure that the quadrennial defense review is not used to justify unnecessary spending.
I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons.
To seek that goal, I will not develop new nuclear weapons.
I will seek a global ban on the production of fissile material.
And I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICMBs off hair-trigger alert
and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear program.”
–Barack Obama on National Defense (campaign commercial)
De-prioritizing the military, and military spending in order to spend more money on social, and welfare programs while America is at War might keep him popular with the dependants (his voting base) he owes a living to while weakening our National Security.
Do you think "closing" Gitmo was in our best interest?
He appears willing to trade National Security to be liked by those who will cut our throats if given the chance.
All I can hope for is that he is trying to make American look clueless on National Security as a statedgy to lull our enemies into
a false confidence to weaken them for a hammer blow....but I think not.
Chux
Why would al-Qaeda vote Democrat?
Is it because of the Democrats strong position on National Defense, or the opposite, and will provide more time and opportunities for acts of terrorism to take place globally?
Yeah Mike, it's a dangerous world. Our enemies are many. Our sins are known. Islam needs to free it's self?
More dangerous now than ever with Liberals playing White House.
Our enemies need to be destroyed.
Having less enemies is a good thing.
