Superintendent Brown to Present State of Schools
By meganh

An enthusiastic turnout is expected at the November Good Morning Rocklin Chamber Breakfast when Rocklin Unified School District Superintendent Kevin Brown will bring to light the most current information on state funding and its impact on Rocklin schools. The presentation will feature an update on the recent release of state testing information and how well Rocklin students performed. Additionally, Brown will provide a little history

of the district, some recent city economic indicators, and future plans for the district. Brown, who served as Deputy Superintendent for Educational Services before becoming superintendent, has guided his district through 12 years of rapid growth resulting in enrollment increases of 150%. He has been responsible for the building of six elementary schools, one middle school, a continuation high school, one comprehensive high school, and a district office. He oversaw the completion of Rocklin High School, modernization of two elementary schools and the build-out of Spring View Middle School. Under his leadership the district has passed two General Obligation Bonds and created a Mello Roos district to fund schools in the Whitney Ranch development. This has all

been accomplished while maintaining the financial stability of the district and providing state-of-the-art learning opportunities for all students. As a former board member of the Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce, Brown has helped in creating strong business partnerships throughout the community, established close

ties with the City of Rocklin, and has promoted educational excellence throughout the community.

“We feel very fortunate to have such a close relationship with the Rocklin Area Chamber of Commerce and the support of our business community. Together we are working to ensure our students have every opportunity to succeed,” said Superintendent Brown. The November Chamber breakfast is on Thursday, Nov. 12 and will begin at 7:30 a.m. Breakfasts are held at Whitney Oaks Golf Club, 2305 Clubhouse Drive in Rocklin. The cost for members is $20 per person with a reservation and $25 per person at the door. For non-members, the breakfast is $25 per person with a reservation and $30 at the door. Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made online at www.RocklinChamber.com.
