Judge hands down 7-year sentence in Auburn rape case
Staff Report
File
Shirfraz Ali

A 24-year-old Sacramento man was sentenced Wednesday to seven years and eight months for raping a female acquaintance who gave him a ride to Auburn in May.

Shirfraz Ali received the prison term from Placer County Superior Court Judge J. Richard Couzens, who also imposed fines and restitution payments of more than $4,000.

Ali entered a plea of no contest on Oct. 7 to felony charges of rape, assault using force and the unlawful taking of another person’s vehicle.

Placer County Deputy District Attorney Todd Kuhnen said the victim drove Ali to Auburn on May 29 because Ali told her he needed a ride to conduct business there. But after they drove to a rural road, he sexually attacked her and choked her, Kuhnen said.

The woman escaped by jumping out of the car and flagging down a passing vehicle. Ali then drove away in the woman’s car.

He will get protective custody, get out in 4 years because he will not rape any women in prison, and be back on the streets before you know it.

They pulled my comment. Probably too graphic. The sucker is guilty of kidnapping and car jacking along with the rape. 7 years is a joke

Wrong thread?

I would ask how many who are condemning this judge for applying the law that knows the law better than the judge? The judge knows far better what the law is than a lay person who may not have a degree in his area of expertise. This fellow didn't just get 7 years and 8 months which is closer to eight than it is to 7 he also gets a sentence of reporting to law enforcement every 6 months the rest of his life. where ever he may live in the USA from the time and he is released he will be an automatic suspect of any of the sex crimes in his area of residence. I am sure that the law doesn't require the life of one who is guilty of the crime he has been convicted of. there sure are a lot of blood thirsty folks in this area or it would seem that way to me as I keep track from time to time of these posts.

Riiiight, grinunbarrett, the "blood thirsty folks" are the people advocating for adequate and effective punishment for violent criminals who ruin the lives of innocent people.

What a travesty of justice. 7 years is an insult. Why is this not considered a hate crime? I hope and pray that this piece of filth is gangraped and killed in prison.

That's right Grinunbarret. We don't cotton to rapist/kidnapper/car jackers in these here parts.

Im pretty sure that 8 years in prison is a standard sentence for a first time rapist. What should he have got, 30 years? 8 years in prison is going to show this guy a whole world of unpleasant things that he never even imagined. Its going to be the worst thing that has ever happened to him and he will in all likelihood be made somebody's little girlfriend. Its hard to take seriously the arguments from somebody when they (MRex21) would rather have somebody gang raped and killed in prison. Way to make yourself sound like a reasonable person with a credible argument. Of course Mr. Ali should be punished heavily, but since when is 8 years not a heavy sentence?

Jammin -

MrEx-21 knows what's what. He probably could do eight years standing on his head. In fact, he HAS done time standing on his head, while bent over in the shower.

We`ll just wait until it happens to you or one of your family members, friends, co-workers, etc.. Yes, why don`t we wait and continue talking at that point.

Oh, I am being reasonable, and I'm quite serious. This man destroyed a life. His should now be forfeit, hopefully in a very painful way. This is terrorism on a very personal level. Septic is just being septic. All he has left is name calling. He doesn't know any better. Ignore him and he'll go away.

rapists and murders should be put to death when found guilty, they only get a year to appeal then the chair

this sick SOB ruined a life and all he has to pay is a few measly years... he is lucky I don't work in that prison!
