Placer County Office of Education hosts reorganization workshop
By Loryll Nicolaisen, Journal staff writer
Michele Schuetz

School district reorganization is the topic of an upcoming informational workshop.

The Placer County Office of Education hosts the workshop, meant to examine issues involving school district reorganization, Monday evening in Auburn. The information is presented by Schools Innovation & Advocacy.

“There’s been a lot of discussion over the years, especially with our smaller foothill districts, regarding the benefit, if any, of reorganizing into different configurations,” said Gayle Garbolino Mojica, Placer County superintendent of schools.

The Placer County Office of Education governs 16 school districts covering grades K-12, in addition to the Sierra Joint Community College District.

Michele Schuetz, Auburn Union Elementary School District superintendent, said Auburn Union was one of the districts that asked the county office of education to provide more information.

“We did ask the county to do a study to see what the financial benefits would be if certain districts merged,” Schuetz said. “It’s more of an information-gathering meeting. It doesn’t mean we’re moving in any one direction.”

The workshop is open to the public, and an RSVP is appreciated.

love the flag backdrop. looks like a typical "grooming myself for higher office" mugshot.

Geez, Jayber, you are getting cynical these days. Maybe she didn't have a choice for the backdrop, it is like one of those "school pictures" they do, but for government officials. ha And she doesn't spell her name right. ;-)

You're funny, Gail (spelled correctly). She could have chosen the bookshelf or ubiquitous fake ivy backdrop. I think she would have looked good in my red white and blue cheerleader outfit. And fyi, Gail, I think it was you who encouraged me to spout off every now and then. :)

Oh so blame it on me! Well! When we first met at the bloggers' coffee you were all shy and afraid to say anything remotely controversial or snarky (to use Birch's term). I think we all need to somehow take a break from this site, do they have an AJAnnon we can all go to?

we could start farming on facebook. will you give me a cow?
