Placer County Office of Education hosts reorganization workshop
School district reorganization is the topic of an upcoming informational workshop. The Placer County Office of Education hosts the workshop, meant to examine issues involving school district reorganization, Monday evening in Auburn. The information is presented by Schools Innovation & Advocacy. “There’s been a lot of discussion over the years, especially with our smaller foothill districts, regarding the benefit, if any, of reorganizing into different configurations,” said Gayle Garbolino Mojica, Placer County superintendent of schools. The Placer County Office of Education governs 16 school districts covering grades K-12, in addition to the Sierra Joint Community College District. Michele Schuetz, Auburn Union Elementary School District superintendent, said Auburn Union was one of the districts that asked the county office of education to provide more information. “We did ask the county to do a study to see what the financial benefits would be if certain districts merged,” Schuetz said. “It’s more of an information-gathering meeting.
