A PG&E crew member works to fix a downed power line on Rock Springs Road in Newcastle Tuesday. Crews are expected to continue repair work today.

5:30 p.m.--Almost 600 Auburn area residents did not have power restored Wednesday evening after a storm damaged multiple lines Tuesday.

PG&E spokesman Brian Swanson said crews were going to work through Wednesday night and the remainder of the week to restore electricity to those still left in the dark.

He added that an extra 30 work crews were brought into the Sacramento and Sierra region to help restore power.

“We’ll have crews mobilized as long as necessary to restore power to all customers,” Swanson said.

However, residents living in remote areas or in neighborhoods where fallen trees are blocking roadways should expect delays.

“Customers in those types of less accessible areas should prepare for the possibility that their power might not be restored for a few more days,” Swanson said.

Wednesday evening outage numbers:

Auburn: 14 outages are impacting 250 customers

Colfax: Two outages are impacting 50 customers

Penryn: Seven outages are impacting 30 customers

Loomis: 14 outages are impacting 200 customers

Newcastle: 10 outages are impacting 60 customers

Meadow Vista: One outage is impacting four customers

As of 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, about 900 Placer County residents were without power, Swanson said.

Overall, more than 135,000 PG&E customers in the Sacramento and Sierra region lost their electricity as a result of Tuesday’s storm. That number was reduced to about 10,500 Wednesday.

Thank you to the hard-working crews that work around the clock on this. We were fortunate to be without power for only 9 hours.

Nobody likes to be without power but we must also think of the people trying to restore service. I hope they rotate them so they can get some rest, a tired person can make a very costly mistake and when you're dealing with high voltage it can be deadly. I would rather remain in the dark for a few more hours than have anyone get hurt or die. Yes we are still without power but we'll get it back.
