Miyagi’s stars as hosts of Gold Country Meet

Miyagi’s Gymnastics hosted its annual Gold Country Meet Saturday with several hometown athletes turning in outstanding performances.

Holley Hansen took second in the all-around in the younger division while Ashley Wood was close behind in third and Alexis Vasquez was fourth. Hansen took second on the bars and the beam as well as a third place on the floor exercise. Wood was third in both the vault and the bars. Vasquez took second on the floor and third on the beam.

In the junior division, Thea Economou took fourth in theall-around highlighted by a third place on the beam. Anabelle Johnson took 10th in the all-around.

Courtney Cederloff was sixth in the senior divison all-around and Sally Crowder took seventh in the middle division.

The previous week at the Gold Dust Meet in Sparks, Nev., Wood took fourth in the younger division, highlighted by a first place in the vault. Hansen was fifth in the all-around with a fourth on the bars. Vasquez was sixth in the all-around, taking third in the vault and fourth on the beam.

Cederloff took third on the beam, fourth in the vault and bars and sixth overall. Johnson scored a 9.1 in the vault to finish just behind Cederloff.

Economou was fourth in the vault and seventh in the all-around among 30 competitors in her age group.
