Skeptic is a little old lady that wears army boots
By bcapp1
Greg Calac on a good day

Well, actually he wears Marine boots. But he does wear an Autumn ensemble that is the envy of every woman that is smartly dressed. And he'll be wearing that ensemble (boots and all) at the next Bloggeroffe/Bloggersmeet tomorrow night (Oct. 6) at 7pm at the Starbucks in the Elm Shopping Center.

If you really want to see something funny though, come and see ex-con Greg Calac without handcuffs and on his best behavior. Don't worry, since Birch will be there, so will a contingent of Auburn's finest and they'll keep Greg in line-kinda.

If you haven't been to one of these before, we all check our guns and bad attitudes at the door and have a blast just visiting with each other. We could even discuss how to get the 2016 Olympics to come to Chicago! Oh, that has already been tried?

Birch and Lady Observer will be there as well as Gail, Patrick, CA_04 Voter and many many more, maybe even President Obama will come by for coffee and show us his birth certificate! You never know. It could happen.

Please join us at Starbucks (Elm Shopping Center) 7pm, Tuesday evening October 6.

Join us.

Bob,

Have you noticed how cool the outside temperature has become this past week? I believe we'll be inside Starbuck's tonight, gabbing way ala-cocktail-party-style. That is, everyone might be standing with drink in hand chatting.

I hope so! ;-)

Skeptic,

How do you like the way bcapp1 has dragged you into this thing? It's your own fault, though. If you hadn't responded to any of his taunts you could have gotten away scot-free. Now, you're image is relegated to that of an old lady!

Oh, and please bring a book to share. I still have one I got from Miuwtant in June, so if he could please come by I'll return it and hopefully exchange it for another riveting tome.

I'll be wearing my black winter gloves tonight. After camping all weekend at the Celtic Festival, I still have not warmed up from the unexpected drop in temperature :-)

I have it on good authority, that Obama will be there, and with his official birth certificate too. I may make another appearance, but work is crazy at the moment. I'm not complaining though, glad to be employed.

Skeptic, will actually come disguised as the Dali Lama.

Bob Capp will come disguised as Greg Calac, and Greg Calac will come disguised as Bob Capp.

Chris,

Why don't you wear that t-shirt you have that says "I voted for Obama, twice (Chicago-style)"!

I hope you can make it tonight. ;-)

Sorry! I will be a no show. We have the flu at our house. I'm not sick but I don't want to be a carrier.

If I was wearing a T shirt it would say "birthers, truthers, teabaggers are my homies"

ChuxxR

I was going to sneak in something from my Patrick J. Buchanan collection for ya. Guess I will just wait till next time.

Seriously you will be missed. Heres hoping that you avoid it and the rest in your house come to a speedy recovery.

I have already had my seasonal flu shot. Still waiting for the H!N! shot I here that the only side effect is a desire to roll in the mud after.

I have no problems with the flu vaccine. I got my shot last month. My wife doesn't tolerate the shots well so she doesn't get one.

When the H1N1 vaccine comes out I'll get that shot as well.

I have family commitments as well and cannot join in the revelry, but please, please, do take pictures of Skeptic in the fall ensemble and don't forget to POST them ASAP.

Chrishamm, are you marketing those t-shirts over the web? You might have a found an extra income in this stretched economy.

CA04_Voter, I thought the more prevalant side effect of H1N1, was speaking in "igPay, atinLay". No offense to swine, hogs, CHP, police officers, or any combination thereof intended in that comment.

I was planning on making this meeting, however I am up in Truckee on business and it is looking like I will not finish here until sometime after 6pm. If I have any luck things will finish and I will make it, if not my loss.

keepingupdated. selling and marketing them might be a fundraiser. proceeds could go to the 49er fire victims.

Chris, spoken like a person with a true social conscience;-)

Chris, Nice! ;-)

ChuxxR, You're being very considerate. But we'll miss you!

chase2you, We might still be hanging around until 9:0P, so if you feel like a hot cup of coffee come on by.

keepingupdated, Family first! You've easily made the right choice for your time.

keepingupdated

You are right I was just looking for an excuse to mud wrestle

ChuxxR

I just started getting them last year. This year the decision was easy I walked past a sign the that said flu shots and just dropped in.

Chris

I must be behind on my current topics. I know birther and tea bagger but I am not up on truthers. Just trying to see if I fit in somewhere.

Greg

Inside? Wear something under the jumpsuit you will be fine.

9/11 Truth movement = "truthers" -- SOME overlap with the "teabaggers" and/or "birthers" but not a lot. I mean, if there is anything to the idea that 9/11 was either an inside job or was somehow allowed by the Powers That Be to happen, then it's kinda hard to care too much about where the current Resident was born, you feel me? and the "teabaggers" are mostly folks who somehow JUST figured out that the government is taking their money and doing Bad Things with it... you know, now that the Democrats are in control in DC. not a lot of consistency there; expect that to dry up as soon as Palin or Whoever [R] gets elected in 2012. But the official version of 9/11 will continue to leak credibility... check out the new book "The Ground Truth: the Untold Story of America Under Attack" by former New Jersey Attorney General John Farmer, senior legal counsel to the 9/11 Commission. When someone THAT close to the Official Story starts backtracking, it might behoove us to re-examine both the legitimacy of that Story as well as our smugly dismissive attitudes toward dissenters.

marginal_elite,

Come to Starbuck's at 7:0P tonight, drink coffee and chat. You'll feel better about a lot of things if you do. ;-)

We'll be there for several hours, so you can come later if you like.

marginal_elite

Thanks. Familiar with the theory just never heard it called that before. I will check out that book soon as catch up on some other reading. I wouldn't consider myself dismissive on the subject but a bit skeptical.

CA_04 voter. I am not a conspiracy theorist, but I think it would be safe to say, that there were elements of ineptitude that were covered up by the official 911 report because it would have been far too embarassing for the government and our intelligence agencies.

Did anyone else show-up after I left? We had a good time and I got back to my practice just as I was supposed to play. Whew, close one. We missed Birch and Observer. :-(

Had a great time list night. Another giant thank you to Bob and Greg for organizing these. Glad you got to your practice in time, Gail. Another good time had by all.

Chris

I would agree with that. I think that both elements tend to be true with all major historical events that puts us in a situation to decide whether to trust our governments depiction or not. Governments seldom if ever tell the whole truth and there will always be a conspiracy theory about the event. I just require a very high level of proof before I would believe that our government would cause or allow such an action. Governments tend to be far more incompetent than sinister. I am not saying that the worst could not have happened just that I believe skepticism to be healthy when considering conspiracies.

Gail

We were all that showed and the rest of us hung around until about 08:45. it was a good time right to the end.

Far more incompetent than sinister is a very good characterization.

back to the actual subject of this blog: sorry i couldn't make it to the meet-up; maybe next time. but only if momof11 is there to provide cover-fire.

Sorry, Tuesdays are bad for me. I really want to come to one of the meetings and meet you guys.

marginal_elite

You don't need momof11 no one has ever got excited except that one time someone got between Bob and his Diet Pepsi. Geez Bob the cola addict who would have known. But if saying that you need coverage gets momof11 to come along go for it.

loomisresident

Next time step up and call out for a day that works for ya. I don't think that we are married to Tuesdays.

loomis,

What about Thursday evenings?

marignal_Elite,

You come to one of these meetings and you'll go away with a completely different opinion of the people who post blogs and comments on this site. Guaranteed!

In the past I've seen ChuxxR and Pat25.5 sit and talk and laugh like old pals. I've seen wrighter and lantbarney chumin' it up without ending in a wrestlin' match.

Heck, even Bob Capp (a known mixer) seems capable of controlling himself in this setting.

We barely discuss politics at these gatherings; it's just a good old-fashioned get together over caffeinated beverages.

It’s true, Marginal. I wouldn’t normally admit to talking and having a good time with Chuxx, but there were witnesses. You will enjoy it. Loomis, If you don’t show up at the next meeting, I’m going to send Canis_Lupus to your house for an anti-hunting rally. :)
