A worsening Constitutional conflict

There seems to be, or there ought to be, a growing conflict in this country regarding two sections of our Constitution. The 10th Amendment says “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the People”. Article I, section 8 of the U. S. Constitution grants Congress the power to "lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts, and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common defense and General Welfare of the United States." Since the late eighteenth century this language has prompted debate over the extent to which it grants powers to Congress that exceed those powers specifically enumerated in the Constitution. It seems that the Government can somehow define anything they want to do as being for the “General Welfare” and thus allows them to do just about anything they want to. In its extreme, this could end up with a more Government controlled Country than we already have. I’m not sure how we citizens can slow this up, but somebody needs to look at the Governments encroachment into State’s and Personal rights before it’s too late.

Don't you read the news? The SCOTUS is debating that issue in regards to gun rights under the 2nd and 10th Amendments. To date, 38 states have introduced resolutions to reaffirm the principles of delegated powers under the 10th Amendment.
