Loomis man died from 'blunt force trauma'
Victim was 24-year-old Rudy Ramos
Authorities have announced the results of an autopsy performed Wednesday on Rudy Ramos, 24, the victim of a homicide in his Loomis home on Monday, Sept. 14 In a news release, Dena Erwin, spokeswoman for the Placer County Sheriff’s Department, said the preliminary cause of Ramos' death appears to be blunt force trauma. The official cause of Ramos' death, however, will not be determined until toxicology results are made available in 6 to 8 weeks. Erwin said Monday that a friend of the man who rented the home had attempted to make contact with him. When his phone calls went unanswered, he went to the home on the 3700 block of Berg Lane in rural Loomis and discovered his friend's body. Erwin said there was trauma to the body and signs of an altercation. According to Nina and Evan Cloutman, who live two houses away, the home was a rental and the gravel lane where it is located is normally a pretty quiet place. They said a man, woman and two children lived in the house. A child’s bike leaned on the front porch of the tan, stucco home where the body was found. Toys littered the front yard. Neighbors said they have not seen any of the occupants since Saturday. Nina Cloutman said that one of the children living in the home was a kindergartner at a local school. The other child was a toddler, she said. “It’s sad. They’re a family like we are. I’m not afraid. I’m more concerned about the little girl and her mom,” Cloutman said. Erwin said the Sheriff's Department had located and spoken with the woman on Monday evening. Nick Denton lives three doors down from the house where the body was found. He said he was friendly with the man who lives there. The couple, Denton said, had lived in the home for about six months after moving from North Highlands. “I saw him Saturday afternoon. He was so nice. He worked all the time,” Denton said. Denton said the man worked at Sierra Pine where he mills lumber. According to Denton, the man told him he had a medical marijuana prescription. Denton did not think he was growing any marijuana on the property. On scene Monday evening were Placer County homicide investigators, the county Crime Scene Investigation team, and personnel from the state’s Department of Justice Bureau of Forensic Services. The investigation is ongoing.

Another body? Sounds like the scenario that happened in Sheridan last week. That's three suspicious deaths in Loomis and four for the area in about a month.
Wow and we want to cut deputy pay?? They have been called out to our "safe" town multiple times and we want to cut $500 a month from these people? Come on people it's time to rally up and email our BOS and tell them to stop messing with the men and women that protect us. Common lets get writing!!!
@Holidayoffools:
I was saying the same thing earlier. Someone is lurking about the town it seems, most of these seem to happen during the night, which lately is also where there have been street related vandalism as well.
@TaxPayer175:
I think our serving men and women do fine, so I must agree that we need to keep them as-is; without any cuts whatsoever. There should be an increase of patrols as well. Let me know if you find who we can write to.
One suspicious death, one body dump and one death where foul play was ruled out (and if you have minimal intelligence you can read between the lines and see why the police department was unwilling to say more, in respect to the family and memory of the dead). It's a little early to start playing detective and searching for evil villains, and speculation leads to paranoia and rumors...
Not to say that we shouldn't be concerned about this homicide - obviously there is a threat to our safety here. I just remember how easily people started worrying about a possible serial killer or connection between the last two bodies found, (which the sheriff's department says were completely unrelated) and my knee-jerk reaction is to warn against jumping to conclusions. Sorry if that last post appeared to be critical of any other poster or their concerns or opinions, it was not intended.
The LoomisDon: Our Supervisor is Jim Holmes (530-889-4010) or by email jholmes@placer.ca.gov . I just sent him an email asking him and the rest of the board to leave the DSA as is and lets focus on making Loomis the great safe town it once was and could be again. People like you and others who care make this community what it is. Lets let these BOS know that we voted them in and expect them to represent our wishes not Tom Miller's. Don't mess with our public safety! It's time we take control of our town again.
One last thing: May the victim rest in peace my thoughts are with the family.
Folks, lets not jump to conclusions now,but instead ....lets keep looking for Obama's birth certificate.
? this is getting wierd, i am not sure what to make of all these recent HAPPENINGS in Loomis. It is kinda of odd to have a cluster of bodies popping up in the same place.
@Taxpayer175:
Much appreciated
@Anon:
Speculation is forensics. It's theory based which leads to results+Facts through testing.
@getalong:
Note that medical marijuana has nothing to do with this topic, and plays no role in a comparison.
How can you say the med. marijuana had no play here-when I think that is exactly what the confrontation was over. They moved to our quiet, safe town from North Highlands-hmmm. God rest his soul and I do pray that the rest of the family is okay.
my3kids-
I moved to your "quiet, safe town" for North Highlands, (ooh soo scary!) and am also under recommended use of Medical Marijuana. Why don't you go ahead and pass your judgement on me also.
There is nothing said about whether or not his wife and children are ok...
Apparently his wife and children were not at the home as the news quoted (KCRA) that they had last spoken to him on Saturday. He was found Monday - but they were apparently not in the home all weekend through Monday as a friend discovered him not the wife/kids.
Wow I am sure none of you should be passing judgement on my family. In stead of talking crap why don't someone ask how they can help with a fund to pay for his funeral. He does have a wife and two very young kids who are hurting right now and yes they are okay, very hurt and shocked by this but okay
MalindaNShawn143: I am relieved and glad to hear that the children and their mother are ok. This is a truely heart breaking situation and I wish your family all the strength, love, and support to get through this time.
good thing Placer County Sheriff's Dept. bought that new helicopter, it was well worth the money.......keeping alot of crime down.........
YES...I agree with Malindanshawn143.. good lookin out cuzz! these people wanna put in their input when its not needed . it does not matter why this happened all that matters is that it happened and he has two beautiful little girls and a great wife... someone did this for a dumb reason iam sure.. So if you wanna trash talk family pick someone elses!
my3kids-
obviously if you are worried about being judged you could be doing something differently....
oops...that was supposed to go to mynameis... too much mary jane!
Has our community become so callous? Someone was murdered in their home. People are grieving. Yet snarky remarks abound from other threads that do not relate. Granted this is a public forum, but have some heart and at least keep it on target. Sooner or later loved ones of the victims (there is more than one in this case, the living are no less a victim) will be reading this...some may have already; looking at the comments on this thread. If someone you loved were to have been killed or died or severely injured, would you want to read some of the junk that has been posted on this thread? I just do not understand how people can become so disconnected with their compassion that they think some of this is funny. There is a time and place for this kind of 'humor' and sarcasm...In my opinion, this may not be the best time or place...when everything is still so raw.
You people are heartless this is family of mine and i would hope nothing ever happens to yours?.. you have no clue what this was about so keep opinions to yourself ,if my sister inlaw saw this it woud tear her apart.. have some compassion.you people are cold hearted!
mynameis-i'm not passing judgement on you or anyone else who decided to use med. marijuana-I was just stating that unfortunately drugs are drugs and where they are crime MAY follow. Not that it is intended-it's just the way it is. I also lived in No. Highlands-and yes, a lot of the areas are not somewhere I would raise my children-sorry if that offended you. I just learned from living there, that Loomis is a much more friendly and community oriented area that I am happy to raise my children in.
GIanbuckysmomma--I do apologize for my comments-i've prayed for your family since I heard about this tragedy and hope that with faith they can get through it. My condolensces.
Yes..please show some respect and compassion. The mother and 2 children are trying to cope with this sudden tragic loss. They were not home at the time as she often took kids to grandmothers so he could rest up for work.He was a wonderful father and a loving husband.They have been together since middle school,a true love story of high school swethearts. As for the neighbor who saw fit to bring up the medical marijuana fact..what did you hope to accomplish there..other than to imply thats why he is dead. For crying out loud...a wonderful man has been brutally murdered and all you can think of is to blame a medically needed drug.Some people have no heart.I am glad the mom and children did not come home and find him on the floor dead...however am just as saddened that it was my daughter and her boyfriend who did find him.What a horrific thing for us all who loved him to deal with.I agree..help with the funeral would serve a better purpose than going off track and leaving comments that have nothing to do with the issues at hand.He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.He was a kind and considerate man who did not deservr to die.
Thank you auburn journal for removing the inappropriate comments. And to anyone else that did not know rudy, his wife, his kids, or even all the facts why don't you think twice before adding in your two cents because trust me it is not needed at all. No one deserves this and no family deserves to go throuh this kind of heartache.
R.I.P. Rudy Ramos you will be missed by all......
my3kids, as a long time resident of Loomis I can tell you that the Loomis of today is way different than the Loomis of yesteryear.
