Health care debate town hall meetings
planned, but none are slated for Auburn
The national health care debate won’t be aired at a town hall meeting in Auburn anytime soon. U.S. Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Granite Bay, has upsized the meeting place for a Sept. 5 town hall session in Shingle Springs and added three other venues. The list does not include Auburn, the Placer County seat. The Sept. 5 meeting had previously been slated for Cameron Park but after large crowds attended similar town-hall meetings this month put on by other congressmen in the area, McClintock changed venues to Ponderosa High School, which can hold 800 people. U.S. Rep. Wally Herger attracted 2,000 to a town-hall meeting last Tuesday in Redding that focused on health care. Other McClintock town-hall meetings will be held in Granite Bay, Susanville and Grass Valley. The schedule is: • 6 p.m. Sept. 1 at Granite Bay High School Gym, 1 Grizzly Way. • 5 p.m. Sept. 3 at Susanville’s Jensen Hall, Lassen County Fairgrounds. • 6 p.m. Sept. 4 at Grass Valley’s Veterans Hall, 255 South Auburn St. • 4:30 p.m. Sept. 5, Ponderosa High, 3661 Ponderosa Road, Shingle Springs. While health care has been the predominant topic at other recent town hall meeting, the sessions with McClintock are scheduled to have an open-mike format with any subject open for discussion.

I watched two of these unfold on Cspan. It was sad. There were so many confused people. One poor fellow was sure it was 1994 then 1984. The majority of responders were seniors. It was so sad.
Hmph. And I wonder why that is.
Sept 5- saturday Ponderosa High School is in Shingle Springs. That's where the Red Hawk Casino is located. Tom needs Casino money. No mystery there.
Sept 4. friday. Veterans hall at Grass Valley. Nevada County went for Brown(D) in 2008, so McCarpetbagger needs a venue that would naturally have more conservative, older clientele who already HAVE government funded health insurance and be willing to teabirfer against it for other people. And Jeff Ackerman of the Union will be around.
Sept 3 thursday in Susanville, Lassen County. The state prison is in Susanville. This is where they sent the Minutemen Tour early last spring, out of driving range of the civilized part of the state.
Sept 1, tuesday, Granite Bay High School Gym: This is going to be a pep rally for the wealthiest citizens in the entire district to rail about having to pay taxes.

During the actual 2008 congressional campaign, McClintock's people were adept at limiting their candidate's exposure to accidental interactions with the public to a minimum unless they were Republicans. I cannot imagine him holding any sort of "open microphone" type of event unless he already has enough crazy people from the Sacramento Teabirfer, er, Teabagger Anti tax movement and Move America Forward, the RMR Republican Public Relations firm, lined up to rant about Communism, Muslim Terrorists, and "Perverts."
Can you believe it……….:) LOL
Tom went to eat lunch, too. What he was really doing was attempting to support the greedy corporations. I saw tom blink. He was really performing Morris Code to the right wing extremists.
I wonder if any of these are going to be televised by local cable channels? Id be interested to see live, instead of the media spin that occurs as im not going to be able to attend...
Just how many times did Charlie Brown come and visit the Republican groups and ask for a vote? It's campaign 101 to avoid public engagements that would be futile, only serve to give negative add materials for the opponent, and not likely to yield any new voters.
Charlie Brown didn't give me a call and say " I see you have voted Republican about 50 times, but I'd like the opportunity to sit down with you in front of TV cameras and a room full of Republican party members to debate your view on the issues with you in hopes of winning your 1 vote.
The whining above just looks like a sore-loser.
