Auburn Library Book Discussion Needs Your Comments!
For the past many months, the Auburn Library has offered a noon time book discussion once a month. Attendance has been spotty. Discussions are great even if only a couple participants joined in. Please let us know what would make this a must-attend gathering for you?
When could you attend a book discussion group? Morning 9 - 10 or 10 – 11? Lunchtime 11:30 – 12:30 (as we have been doing); Evening 6:30 – 7:30? Saturday morning? Any specific day of the week?
What books do you like and would you love to discuss with a group of fellow Auburnites: Mysteries, current event nonfiction, historic nonfiction or historic novels, women’s fiction, suspense/horror, philosophical, political thrillers, or something else?
Please comment below or email comments to library@placerlibrary.org to the attention of Terri P. or copy this out and drop at the Auburn Library at the Information desk addressed to Terri P.
Next month’s book discussion: Run by Ann Patchett…see you August 12 at 11:30 in the Library.
Thanks!

Bookgroups are such a personal thing. You really have to feel comfortable with everyone there to say what you think. A public book group like you describe would be very difficult to launch. There is always the risk of a few blowhards dominating the discussion. Although I love books and reading, I doubt that I would come to a public book discussion, for the reasons already mentioned.
