Lance Armstrong congratulates young
Colfax cyclist on Nevada City win
Soon-to-be-ninth-grader Kyle Clayton of Colfax received a special perk for completing the Nevada City Classic Sunday — a moment with cycling star Lance Armstrong. Kyle took second place in the Juniors age bracket and was presented with a monetary award and a medal. Following Armstrong’s victory in the criterium-style bike race, he and teammate Levi Leipheimer congratulated Kyle on his win and signed his medal. Kyle’s eighth-grade project at Live Oak Waldorf School was building a road bike under the guidance of Auburn’s Bicycle Emporium staff. Kyle built his own bike then rode it 600 miles with his eighth-grade class. Kyle rode that same bike at the Nevada City Classic. Kyle will enter Colfax high school this fall as a freshman and hopes to continue his love of biking and cross-country running.
