Last weekend was very special for my husband and I.

No, it wasn't because of Valentine’s Day. Feb. 13 was the one-year anniversary of us getting the keys to our first home.

It’s hard to believe it’s only been a year. There’s still so many things I want to do (new bookcases for the office, hang photos in the stairway, get patio furniture).

Financially, it’s been quite a kick to our pocketbooks, but we’ve made it through.

While house payments have really zapped our discretionary income, we were still able to celebrate Valentine’s Day in our favorite eating spot — our dining room.

There’s nothing quite like enjoying a meal with your loved one in the home you’ve worked so hard for.
